I received my COPR on the 10th of March, 2016 for myself and my dependent 13 years old son. Unfortunately the visa is valid from 08/02/2016 to 13/04/2016, the time is too short to visit Canada. And presently I am doing PhD in the UK, so I cannot visit Canada for more than one week. After finishing PhD in next 2 years, I can move to Canada.

My question is: Is it possible to avail this opportunity for which I applied, and waited a lot. If I can, then what is the way out to get PR card. Can it be done in visiting Canada just for one week. For the PR card, I can give one of my best friend's address.

So in that week, what documentation would be needed to complete while there.

Your early response will be much appreciated as I have very limited time.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Ahmed

Hello Ahmed,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

We have had many of our users state and share that they have had friends or family who are residing at the Canadian address that they provided, forward their PR Cards on to them via a safe/secure method. Some have had it sent via courier or sent with a travelling family member.

However, it is important to note that when you are outside Canada and you would like your friend or family member to send it or bring it to you, it is important that you are aware of the risks of it being misplaced or possibly seized.

If you are unable to get your PR card and are outside Canada and need to return, you may need to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) from a Canadian visa office abroad. It is also important to note that there is also the risk your application for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) application be denied.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
