Hello everyone,

I am a little confused where to start. Basically, I am new to Canada and just recently received my PR card (last month). I am from Germany and moved last year to Toronto. I haven't completed my Bachelors (Chemistry) yet and I was wondering if it is easy to transfer the points/courses here in Toronto. I tried to find some information but that made me just more clueless.

Another point I was wondering about was what if I try to go into translation German - English. Which place would be the best to go to get more information?

I hope someone has an idea.

Hello TRM,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

You mentioned that you have not yet completed your Bachelors and are looking into transferring some of your educational credits.

Before you start to study in Canada, you might need to have your educational documents evaluated. Each college and university has its own process for evaluating your previous education.

You may be able to find some helpful information in our our Settlement.Org Where can I get my international credentials evaluated for education? article.

You may also want to contact the College or University you are interested in attending directly to discuss your credentials.

If you are interested in becoming a certified translator in Ontario, you can contact the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) to see if you meet the qualifications.

In terms of becoming an interpreter, there are several organizations that provide interpreter services for domestic violence court, hospitals and community based programs/settlement services.

You can find some information on becoming an interpreter here:

Multilingual Community Interpreter Services (MCIS)- Training & Testing

The Schlifer Clinic - Become An Interpreter

Seneca College - Language Interpreter Training Certificate

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hi, I would like to learn mobile app development, preferably attending any short term course. I have little knowledge in coding. Is it possible for me to do mobile application development courses without coding knowledge? If so, which course should I choose, ios or android? Do I need to go to any training or crash course on coding before attending mobile app development course?
