Hello,
I have to activate my PR coming from Europe. So I will fly in the next month. Question: Do I have to apply for an electronic travel authorization to? Or can I go just with the letter of confirmation I got from the CIC?
Thanks Nico783

Hello Nico783,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
It is great that you are looking into this type of information ahead of time.
You can find some detailed information regarding whether or not you are required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) in the Find out if you need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visitor visa section of the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.
Here is an excerpt,
Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and travellers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents are not eligible to apply for an eTA.
You can also find some additional information on whether or not you require the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) in the Help Centre -FAQ section of the IRCC website in the I have a visa or a temporary resident permit to enter Canada. Do I need an eTA too? question.
Here is an excerpt,

No. If you already hold a valid temporary resident visa or permit, you do not need an eTA to enter Canada.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
