Problem in registering daughter to school

Hello,
I had gone for my daughter's school registration at one of the welcome centers, but they denied her admission since her PR was expired.
They told me she is not a PR anymore until her PR is renewed.
I have my COPR (confirmation of Permanent Residency) document, which was listed as one of the document required for admission.
I am quite sure that expired PR does not mean that she has lost her residency, can you tell me who to contact?
Is there a document that shows that PR status is not lost on expiry of the card.
They told me that I would have to register her as an international student, which does not make sense.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation with us.
We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.
When it comes to fulfilling the residency requirements, it has no correlation with the expiry date on the PR Card. The fact that a PR Card has expired does not mean that a person has not fulfilled their residency requirements.
It is important to note that you do not lose your permanent resident status the instant your Permanent Resident Card expires.
It is important to note that in terms of loss of permanent residency, a person does not lose it until a final determination has been made.
We suggest that it is best that you contact the school board directly for some information.
You may also want to contact the nearest Settlement Agency for some assistance with registering your daughter.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation. ===== Anna Settlement.Org Content and Information/Referral Specialist, CIRS Settlement.Org
