Hi. Im Emily, Im 24 years old. I recently moved here from the states with my husband who is a Canadian citizen by birth. We recently just got married and I just applied for my PR but I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant and Im not sure what to do. I won't have any basic health care coverage until I get my PR papers and that could take a long time. My husband doesn't have a family doctor because he just moved back from the states for living there for 9 years. however, he does have health benefits with his job. I have been out of work for the past year since I moved here so we do not have the funding to have a baby privately. Pleas tell me what I can do. Looking forward to hearing your advice. Thanks Emily

Hello Emilly,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this situation.
In terms of services here in Ontario, you can find some detailed information in our Settlement.Org I am pregnant and don't have OHIP. What health care can I get? article.
You may also find some additional information in this Settlement.Org How much does it cost to get care from a midwife? article.
If you are applying for permanent residence via In Canada sponsorship, you should qualify for OHIP once you have Approval in Principle (AIP) or first stage approval.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
