Can I Break my Lease?

Hi I live in an apartment building and i started a 1 year contract with this building starting aug 2016, I had someone breaking into my apartment last night and i dont feel safe here anymore.
Can i legally terminate my contract with the rental office without compensation since its a safety issue?
