Moving from Ottawa to Toronto

Hi everyone,
I am Melanie, and me and my husband just received our visas and PR confirmation issued by Ottawa. Our first choice for a very long time has been Ottawa, but now that things are really finally and really on their way, we are much more attracted to the dynamism of Toronto. As both cities are located in Ontario, is it possible for us to settle directly in Toronto or must we first land in Ottawa and carry out our administrative paperwork and applications before moving ? In any case, we really plan on staying in the Ontario province, we just love it !
Thanks in advance for your reply,
Melanie

Hello Melanie,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
If you are not landing under a Provincial Nominee Program from another province or unless you are otherwise legally restricted (bail, bond, etc.), you can move to any city or province in Canada and live wherever you wish.
However, if you decide to move to Quebec, as a new immigrant you may not have access to some of the Quebec-funded services for immigrants that come to that province via their provincial selection process.
Canadian Permanent Residents have full mobility rights.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation. ===== Anna Settlement.Org Content and Information/Referral Specialist, CIRS Settlement.Org

Hi Anna,
Thank you for replying to my request, it is very much appreciated and helpful.
Indeed, I am under no other immigration program (Provincial Nominee or other) and have none of the above restrictions. I also do not plan to live in Quebec. I have a PR issued by Ottawa for me and my husband.
So, if I understand correctly, I can land directly in Toronto and complete the paperwork there with an adress in Toronto ? (no need for an adress in Ottawa) ??
Thank you in advance for your answer !
Kind regards,
Melanie

Hello, Melanie,
Thank you for sharing your additional question.
From the information we have received from the IRCC Call Centre , it would seem that this would be possible.
However, we suggest that you may also want to try to contact the IRCC Call Centre directly to confirm this information and to see what they suggest regarding these portions of the application. We have had some of our users previously state that they have been able to contact IRCC from abroad by dialing 1 613 944 4000. Listen to the options to get to IRCC. Then you should be transferred to the IRCC Call Centre.
Please note though that some have reported that it did not work for them or that it is no longer working.
You may want to give it a try.
Long distance charges will apply.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
