PR card Renewal - 10 Months and Still Waiting

I have been reading some posts about the length of waiting time for a PR renewal after it has been sent for a secondary review.
I sent my application in March 2016, received a notice in April to say that it went for secondary review and absolutely no communication since then.
I have no idea how I'm supposed to find out what the delay is - called CIC back in December but they couldn't give me any information.
Is anyone out there experiencing the same lengthy delay?
If so, do you have any suggestions of what to to next - apart from just wait of course!

Hi Cariad.
I got the secondary review letter when I applied.
I got it end of may 2016 and only received my card 2 weeks ago.
You will probably get more information from someone who has been through it more than CIC themselves.
It's ridiculous how long it takes to renew one of those cards.
My renewal took longer than my initial application to become a permanent resident.
CIC are poor at giving out any information.
I ended up going to my MP and expressed my concern to them and this is what they found out for me while the CIC call center wouldn't tell me.
1) secondary reviews can be random.
2) It takes around or up to 12 months for a card to be renewed if it's gone to secondary review.
3) There were no notes on my file so I assume mine was random.
I can understand your frustrations because all the people who I spoke to at CIC were very blunt and sometimes down and out rude.
Even when I first applied for my renewal I needed clarification on a question and the person I spoke to said "I can't fill the form out for you!"
Hence at the end of the application where you sign it asks that you have sought clarification on any questions you haven't understood.
Just wait a bit longer.
I'm sure speaking to my MPs office sped up the renewal.

Hi, I am glad that you have shared your experiences as I was wondering how the outcome turned out to be. I also agree, sometimes their services are not so well.
I wanted to know: What does "notes" mean? and what does a secondary review mean?
Thank you, Mary

Hi Mary,
Sometimes an additional explanation is provided which is what is meant by "notes". You may be interested in reading other people's experiences with secondary reviews in this Discussion Forum thread on this topic. You may also want to contact the IRCC Help Centre if you have questions.
