Good day all,

We just moved to Ontario a few months ago and lost our family doctor in Quebec (obviously). Now my issue is that my daughter has been struggling in school since grade 3 and they now say she might have ADD (she is 13), she show NO SIGN of hyperactivity AT ALL. Where do I start do get her evaluated??? Does anyone knows if the Ontaio health delay is faster then the Quebec one?

TIA all.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing our situation and question with us.

You may be able to find some helpful information on the People for Education website.

You stated that you lost your family doctor. The ChildReach website suggests,

Who do I go to if I suspect my child may have ADHD?

A visit to your family doctor is the first step. He/she will discuss your concerns and determine if a referral to a Paediatrician or Psychologist is needed. Alternatively, talk to your child’s teacher. School boards do have psychologists on staff although the wait time may be lengthy.

You may want to speak to the school board of the area you are living in to find out what their procedures are in this situation.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
