My wife has permanent residency in Canada. She just renewed her German passport and has a new passport number.
Does she has to renew her PR and fill in a PR application based on having a new passport number.
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated as the government website does not appear to address this.
Thanking you in advance.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your wife's situation with us.
We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.
According to the Immigration , Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website only states that you must renew your PR card if it expires. It additionally states,
You should only apply for a PR card if:
- you didn’t receive your PR card within 180 days of immigrating to Canada;
- your PR card is expired or will expire in less than nine months;
- your PR card has been lost, stolen, or destroyed; or
- you legally changed your name and need to update your PR card.
The Immigration , Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website also states that you should renew your card six months before it expires in the How do I renew my permanent resident card? Frequently Asked Question.
There is no need to contact the IRCC if your card has expired or will expire shortly.
You may want to contact the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Call Centre directly to confirm this information.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
