Working Remote While Waiting For a PR

My husband is a Canadian citizen and will be sponsoring me for my PR in Toronto. I will be applying inland and for the Open Work Permit along with my PR. My current job lets me work remotely from home. My employer has no issues with me working remotely while I am living in Toronto. Is it legal for me to continue my U.S. based role from Toronto while I am waiting for my open work permit? Will this impact my ability to get a PR?
