Importing my Pet (Dog) to Canada - Questions

Hello there.
I'm interested in moving to Canada shortly from Australia and I would like to bring my dog with me.
My question is, can I move to Canada on a 2 year visa or live there whilst the PR is in process and bring my dog with me after all vet requirements are checked?

You can find some helpful information on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website in the Importing or Travelling with Domestic Dogs section.
You can select the options that apply to your situation.
It states that:
These requirements apply to:
-animals entering Canada permanently
-animals in transit through Canada on their way to a final destination
-animals entering Canada for a temporary visit
You can also find some additional information on the Government of Canada - Travel.gc.ca website in the Bringing your pet to Canada section.
