Hi,

I am living abroad with my family but we plan stay in Canada soon. My two children and I are Canadian citizens and would like to apply for OHIP when we arrive. For the children's documents, may I use one of the listed documents of mine to prove their residency?

They wouldn't receive any kind of statements or documents to show their place of residence.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

According to ServiceOntario Call Centre, if the children are under 16 years old, you can use the same proof of residency documents that you use for yourself.

If they are over 16 years of age, they will have to provide one that is specifically theirs. For example, a bank statement with their name and address on it or a letter from the school with their name and address on it etc.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
