Hi, both my parents just landed this year.

I am under the immigration new rule of 20 years undertaking for their financial needs, not the old 10 years.

I have heard that now they have to live in canada for 20 years in order to apply for OAS.

However, the immigration website still says 10 years.
Can someone please clarify this for me please?

Thanks.

1. OAS is not welfare. Once your parents have resided in Canada for 10 years, they would be eligible for 10/40ths of OAS or about $142.00 per month at todays rate.
