Good day all,

In the process of applying for Canada citizenship for which I have started filling the online provided, originally savable/editable PDF forms marked with "CIT 0002 (06-2017) E", only to realize today that there have been another/new version marked: "CIT 0002 (08-2017) E" and now its no longer savable/editable but must be filled and printed at once, questions:

1) Aren't they identically the same?
2) Since they're the same, couldn't I continue on using the the older version "CIT 0002 (06-2017) E", print and submit it once complete?
3) There are conflicting ID photos requirements; "The frame size must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″)" and "The frame size must be 50 mm x 70 mm (2″ x 2 ¾″).", which is the current/correct one?

Any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
G.

1. YOu have to use the latest forms and the new photo instructions. If you don't, your application will be returned as incomplete and not processed. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/photospecs-cit.asp

Hi! I am in the process of completing the application and on the new calculator it shows your eligibility period is x to x. You will need this in the application form. Now, in no.9 a, what dates do i used...is it the date that i landed in canada till the date i signed the applicatio. Or is it the 5 years eligibility period indicated on new calculator? Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your question with us.

You can find some information in the Application for Canadian citizenship under subsection 5(1) – Adults 18 years of age and older (CIT 0002) Instruction Guide.

Here is an excerpt,

The eligibility period
  • Calculate how long you’ve been in CanadaThe eligibility period is five (5) years before the date of your application. The minimum amount of time you need to be physically present in Canada is 1095 days within the five years immediately before applying. We encourage applicants to apply with more than the minimum requirement of 1095 days of physical presence, to account for any miscalculations of absences, or any other aspect that could lower the physical presence total below 1095 days.
You must complete and submit the printout of your Online Physical Presence Calculation. If you have not already completed this step please do so by visiting the Online Physical Presence Calculator.

Note: We strongly encourage you to use the online calculator as it is the most accurate way to check your eligibility. If you are unable to use the Online Physical Presence Calculator, you may complete the How to Calculate Physical Presence form (CIT 0407) (PDF, 1.98MB).

  • We also suggest that you contact the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Client Support Call Centre directly for some information specific to your application.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

I can't get the latest (10-2017) application for Canadian Citizenship [Form CIT 0002] to open or download from IRCC website except the one for minors [CIT 0003]. For that matters can't get hold of any new app consistent with the revised citizenship rules. just wondering is it just me or everyone has this problem. On top of it IRCC help center isn't picking up calls. Any help would be appreciated!!

P.S. Just so you know I have the latest adobe reader so that doesn't look like a problem I mean I have exhausted all my options so far..

Hi, I submitted my application for the Citizenship on October,16 and since that date I heard nothing for the CIC.

My question is: when I should get the application number? should I receive it by mail or by email?

    thank you.
