Hello, I'm American (Detroit) and my girlfriend is Canadian. We have just received news that we are expecting our 1st child. We plan to live here in the States and plan on getting her permanent resident status (green card) through marriage. All of this is pretty straight forward (or as straight forward as our immigration system can be), my question is this. She currently works in Canada, and will continue too after we are married and has legal permanent resident status in the U.S..When the baby is born will she still be eligible to claim maternity leave/EI even though she resides in the US and has permanent status there?
