Hi There,

I have a PR card that mentions my nationality (Israel). I also have another nationality (Poland) that isn't mentioned on my PR card.

The question is: Can I use my Polish passport+PR Card to enter Canada? or do I have to use my Israeli passport because that's the one mentioned in the PR card?

Thanks in advance!

You can, I had similar situation and I entered and exited twice. Its the valid PR card you will need to enter, you can also carry your expired Israel passport just in case.

Hi ,
This question is regarding my PR . I got my PR last year in August before that I was on Work Permit for almost 2 years. Now when I got my PR in August last year after 2 months ( In October end) I need to travel to India due to critical Medical emergency back home. Since last year I am in India. Now I am planning to go back to Canada .I have my valid PR card with me.Please guide me
1. Is there any problem persist while landing back in Canada ?
2. In which province I can land ?
3. Any other formalities are required while going back to Canada ?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

As a permanent resident, you may travel outside Canada after you arrive. However, you must meet certain residency obligations to maintain your status as a permanent resident.

To meet these residency obligations, you must be physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5-year period. The 5-year period is assessed on a rolling basis. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will look back at your time in Canada over the previous 5 years.

This means that you can spend a total of up to 3 years outside of Canada during a 5-year period. However, if you have been a permanent resident for less than 5 years and decide to leave the country for an extended period of time, it is up to you to prove to IRCC that you will be able to meet your residency requirements.

You can find some detailed information regarding your residency requirements as a permanent resident in our Settlement.Org What are the residency requirements for permanent residents (PRs)? article.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
