I am a kindergarten teacher and we just received your posters re dressing for winter

Very disappointed to see you are still advocating the use of scarves, see this article:http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/scarf-ban-for-kids-using-winnipeg-school-playground-equipment-1.2664554

Scarves are not only dangerous, but they are almost impossible for small children to secure properly. As a teacher, I do not have time to help a class full of three, four and five year olds do up their scarves!

In addition, your video is cute but really doesn't give much info. Parents should be coached to teach their kids to dress in this order: snowpants, boots, jacket, neckwarmer, hat. Mittens are last, because kids can't do the other jobs once they are wearing them.

I wish you would research a bit more before spending all that money on posters and videos.

Thanks

Cindy

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your concern and feedback with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this.

As you may know, Settlement.Org is a website that provides information to newcomers and immigrants to the province of Ontario. Our information and referral service is provided online.

At times, included in this information, is content from some of our partners.

Therefore, unfortunately, we do not provide print copies such as posters or guides that have been created by other organizations or partners.

The content you are referring to was produced by the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program and CMAS. CMAS is Canada’s leading organization that focuses on caring for immigrant and refugee children.

You may want to contact the organization that provided the posters to your school/school board or the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program and CMAS directly regarding your concerns about the content included in their video and posters.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

I never realized how dangerous scarves could be. Thanks for sharing that information. I also never really thought about how difficult it must be for teachers to teach multiple children how to tie up their scarves. I'm an adult and still have a hard time!
