PRTD and Re-applying for PR Card

Hi
I have just got my PRTD and have entered Canada.
I have to go back to my country due to a business requirement.
CAn I start the PR card renewal process in Canada and go back to my country and wait till I get my renewed PR card.
Ps: I had to apply for PRTD since I had missed my dated for PR card renewal and I was out of the country at the time.
Please suggest the best course of action.
Do you think I can go back after applying fro PR card renewal on a PRTD and wait in my country till I get a renewed PR card or do you think it is mandatory to stay in Canada while the application is under process?

Which office did you apply for PRTD and how many days it took to process? Also, please tell me what is your visa type on PRTD and its validity?
