One of our sponsored Syrian refugees is elderly and has poor mobility in one foot. She has found relief in the past through a chiropractor / chiropodist.
Does the IFHP cover this type of service?

Hello,
Thank you very much for sharing your question with us.
We have consulted with our organization's Coordinators for the Refugee Settlement Support Project.
According to them, Chiropractor services are not covered under the IFHP, however physiotherapy and occupational therapy are covered benefits. The IFHP benefit grid should be consulted for complete list of supplemental coverage: IFHP Benefit Grid - Supplemental Coverage. Here is an excerpt,
Please inquire with Medavie Blue Cross for client eligibility before submitting your prior approval request for these services. You may contact Medavie Blue Cross by calling 1-888-614-1880. Please see our Handbook for Health-care professionals for more information on prior approval procedures: Information Handbook for Health-care Professionals
It is best to call for additional information.
You may also find some helpful information on our WelcomeOntario.ca website.
The Welcome Ontario - Syrian Refugee Assistance Information website was created to bring together trustworthy information for those helping Syrian refugees settle in Ontario. This site was created and is maintained by OCASI, the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, whose mission is to achieve equality, access and full participation for immigrants and refugees in every aspect of Canadian life.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
