Medical Coverage If You Change Province - Question

Hello
I landed in Toronto with my wife on 14 March as PR holders under the Federal Skilled Workers category. We have settled in Ontario and wish to make this as our permanent home.
I know that we will have to wait for 90 days before we get our OHIP card and medical cover.
My wife is pregnant and we are expecting the kid in early August.
I am applying for relevant jobs all across the country, so there is a possibility that I may get a job outside of Ontario once i have got the OHIP.
My question is that will i need to wait for 90 days again in that province for medical coverage or is there some way that OHIP or some other federal medical program can cover us?
Regards Hassan

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this situation.
As you may already know, most provinces in Canada require that you wait a 3-month waiting period when establishing residency from another Canadian province. The assumption is that you will have continued coverage from your previous province for those three months.
In your case, you will have not received OHIP from Ontario as yet.
You mentioned that your wife is pregnant.
In terms of living in Ontario, and options available during the 3-month waiting period, you can find some detailed information in our Settlement.Org I am pregnant and don't have OHIP. What health care can I get? and I am pregnant. Where can I find services? articles.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation. ===== Anna Settlement.Org Content and Information/Referral Specialist, CIRS Settlement.Org
