Looking for advice...

I was living with my now ex-girlfriend (as of November 1) and we sent emails to the landlord to get my name added to the lease. The landlord never dropped the form off to do so. After an altercation between me and her I was unable to return to the residence. Once the ex vacated the property I met with the landlord to talk about returning to the residence to get my belongings. I said I would pay him an extra months rent to be able to get my stuff out of the house. He said instead of one month, let's try a 6 month lease. I agreed that would be fine...I did not want to lose my stuff.

When we met again he informed me that he was increasing the rent $150/month and then had me sign a year lease. This was not what we had agreed upon previously but I felt like I had to agree or else I wouldn't be able to get my belongings out of the house.

Is it possible that I can take this to the tribunal to get the rent lowered because I was already living in the residence before all of this. Due to his procrastination my name was never added to the lease but he knew I was living there. I feel like he was taking advantage of my situation.

Any advice would be appreciated.
