Hi,
I am an Indian citizen. My name on passport has my husband's surname. I wish to change it back to my maiden name.

I am not leaving my husband, I just want to change my name back.
Will this create issue in updating my PR card? or my and my husband's PR status?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

If your present name is different from the name printed on your Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688), then you must submit supporting legal documents as proof of your name change, and supporting identity documents as requested in section 2 of Step 1 of the PR card application form.

You can find some detailed information regarding this in the Applying for a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) - First application, replacement, renewal or to change sex designation (IMM 5445) Instruction guide.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
