Hello everyone.

I'll be travelling to the US by car next week for a couple of days only but my PR Card expired in September.

I had already requested to renew much before that and the status on the site is "Decision made" I haven't received the new one yet.

I saw in the immigration site that we can take other documents to proof our residency like the drive license and the land document.

Does anybody already been through that?

Is it ok with the border if I show those documents to return to Canada?

Also in the day I'll travel to US I'll pass my citizenship exam, don't know if that will help to return if I don't get my new PR card by than..

I'm a little worried.

I just want to know someone's experience.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your daughter's situation with us.

You can find some information regarding what to do if a PR card is expired and you are outside Canada on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Website in the What happens if my permanent resident card expires while I am outside Canada? - FAQ section.

You may also want to contact the the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Call Centre directly for information and suggestions regarding she should do.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
