My International Driving License issued by my country does not have a reciprocal exchange with Ontario Driving License.

If I want to get an Ontario Driving License,

I need to start from G1, once I pass the G1 while pending for my G2 test, which i guess probably takes about 9 months to a year,

can I still drive using my international driving license in the interim period?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

The International Driver's Permit (IDP) is primarily used by visitors to Ontario. If you plan on living in Ontario - that is, you will be a permanent resident living in Ontario - you need to get an Ontario driver's licence within 60 days of moving to Ontario.

You may want to contact DriveTest directly for some information specific to your situation.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello Moderator,

Is this IDP allow driver who is a Work Permit person from South-East Asian country likes: China, Japan, Taiwan, Philippine, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, Thailand ...etc...to use? Or they should take a Drive Test in Canada? Please clarify.

Thank you for your help.
