Hi All,

Question - I claimed my Canadian citizenship before 26 years of age (eligible through my Canadian born mother). I have never lived in Canada while being a dual citizen. My question is if my US wife and I move to Canada, what is her Canadian citizenship path look like?

Many Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

In order for your wife to get Canadian citizenship, she would have to first become a permanent resident.

You can find some helpful information in our Settlement.Org Sponsorship section.

You can find information specific to How do I sponsor a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child from inside Canada? or How do I sponsor a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, or dependent child living outside of Canada? articles.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
