I hold a Permanent Residency status in Canada. I am planning to bring in my wife from India on Spouse Visa and was writing to check with you on the possibility.

The situation for me here is a a little different as explained below :

I got a PR in the year 2014 and I landed in Vancouver in Oct 2014.

I was just settling down with a full time work when I had to return to India due to a medical emergency.

My father was diagnosed with a medical condition affecting his heart and had to be taken for periodic check ups to the doctor. Since my mother was alone and me being the only child, I had to be with them.

His condition worsened by the end of 2015 and he was in and out of the hospital.

He passed away in March 2017 and I could only travel back to Canada in Sept 2018 as my mother was alone and i also got married this year in February 2018.
I am currently in Canada since Sept 2018 and plan to stay here permanently. I will be applying for the renewal of my PR card after I have completed 730 days.

My question is can i apply for the spouse visa now as me being the sponsor.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We are sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Please accept our condolences.

We can appreciate that you would be very concerned about this situation and that you would want to make sure you know what your options are regarding your spouse.

It is great that you are working towards completing your residency requirements.

In terms of how and when to start your sponsorship application for your spouse, it is best that you contact a lawyer or a reputable immigration consultant who is familiar with Canadian immigration issues.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
