Citizenship after McGill?

I'm interested in immigrating to Ontario after I graduate as a US citizen who currently studies at McGill. Would my 3 years as a student in Quebec count towards the 5 years of permanent residency? Or do I have to start all over again if I come to Ontario? Looking for more info on this process and how long it would take to get Canadian citizenship after I graduate.

As a US citizen, you may want to look at what your options are for permanent residency before you look at Canadian citizenship.
