Hi,

I would like to ask if the provincial health insurance card can be used as one of the 2 pieces of ID needed. I live in Ontario and our health insurance card (OHIP) has a photo. The requirements are stated below.

Thank you.

  • driver’s licence
  • health insurance card
  • senior citizen identification card
  • age of majority card
  • foreign identity documents, such as a passport or government issued identification documents

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

You can find some detailed information on the IRCC website in the Acceptable Documents section.

You may also want to try and contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) directly at 1-888-242-2100 (In Canada Only) to find out what your options are in this situation.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
