I am now hired by an organization as a permanent part-time worker. However, I worked around 30 to 40 hours a week for the past three months. I notice that there is no clear definition of a full-time job in Canada. So I am wondering can I apply for OHIP by this part-time job? Thanks.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your question and situation with us.

We appreciate your interest in this information. We spoke with an operator from the ServiceOntario Telehealth line, and you will likely be asked for a letter from your employer where they need to state that you have worked full-time for 6 months to meet that portion of the eligibility criteria. You may want to contact the OHIP Info-Line at 1-807-475-1300 for more information about your specific situation. Please reach out to us if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Your Settlement.Org team
