I am a Newcomer, I´ve just been here for a month and I am running out of my thyroid medication. I want to know what I need to do to get it if I am still not eligible for OHIP. In my origin country it wasn´t a prescription medicine so I didn´t think it was going to be a problem, but here it is.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your question and situation with us.

If you don't have a health (OHIP) card, you might be eligible for services at a Community Health Centre (CHC). Some doctors accept patients who have private health insurance or who pay for services. You may find helpful information on private health insurance and other ways of paying for perscriptions in the Settlement.Org articles, do I need private health insurance if I have OHIP? and How can I pay for prescription medicine?

I hope this information is helpful.

Sincerely,

Your Settlement.Org team
