Hi,

We will be moving to Canada in July with our baby, who will be born in the UK and will be 2-3 months old.

My husband (the baby's father) is a Canadian citizen by birth. I will be entering the country as a PR. We will both be eligible for OHIP immediately & will apply straight away.

Our child is eligible as a Canadian citizen, but the IRCC processing time for citizenship documents for a child born outside of Canada is 6 months, even in an emergency (otherwise its 21 months!). We understand we need this citizenship document for us to apply for an OHIP card for them.

We are really worried about our child missing immunisations and health checks during this period? What can we do?

Thanks,

Anna
