How can I Find/Get a Start-Up or Survival Job?

Thanks for all people posting and those who provided answers. I have been following answers from the moderator concerning survival jobs. He listed examples that newcomers can do. He said for example cashiers. I don't believe employers in Canada will be willing to trust some one new in the country to handle money and customer service. The second example, the taxi driver, I believe it is not realistic at all. This is because by law one has to get a driving license which is a lengthy process in Canada compared to US and the rest of the world, plus driving a taxi, I guess it may need a special licensing too as well as security clearance, etc.

From what we have heard from many of our users, a lot of times a first job in Ontario or anywhere in Canada may be a survival job, like you have mentioned, something just to pay the bills.
There are some "typical" survival jobs. Some jobs that are considered survival jobs are, cashiers, customer service representatives, factory workers, or taxi drivers.
Some may wish to take a survival job because they can get some Canadian work experience and build a network related to their profession or trade.
