Husband in Hospital - Need Help Getting Coverage

Hello.

My husband came to Canada over a year ago and we agreed to apply for Permanent Residency from inside Canada. I am a Canadian citizen and have been approved as his sponsor and our application was sent to a CIC office in London, England, where he is originally from.

I have paid his RPRF and we were just waiting for the application to be processed.

Now my husband is in the hospital and I'm having a struggle applying for his provincial coverage. I have all the documents I need, but I'm missing a letter from CIC that states he is eligible for permanent residency.

I've contacted the CIC call center and they said they don't send letters like that. The letter I received stating I was approved as a financial sponsor should have been enough, but Ontario doesn't accept it as a form of proof. I've been sent back and forth between the two and not getting anywhere.

Should I contact London? I have tried sending them a message through their website, since I can't find a contact e-mail and I have had no response yet. It's getting very urgent.

Hello. Thank you for this information. It's actually quite shocking to see I'm not the only one with this issue. It's actually a bit relieving as well. I thought I was the only one who would end up in this situation.

I'm trying to get my husband under my workplace insurance plan, but they said he would need an OHIP number. I'm looking at other possibilities as well. Unfortunately our bills are starting to total over $90,000 and still climbing. The hospital has offered to work out a payment plan, but this is ridiculous. If it weren't for my father-in-law offering to help me pay these, I would be sunk.
