Hi, I would be very grateful for some advice.

I am a UK citizen, currently in the U.K., who has just received my 'Confirmation of Permanent Residence'. It is valid until April 2016.

My mother is very ill here but I wish to return to Ontario (Toronto)for a week in November to sort out some affairs.

Will I be permitted to do this but be allowed to return to the UK until early 2016 to care for my mother (I can provide a letter from her doctor)?.... i.e. do I have to remain in Canada while my PR card is being processed?

Also, and I guess part of the same question, are you permitted to work while your PR card is being processed as I gather it takes approx 52 days to be processed.
