My landlord refuses to re-paint, what can I do?

Hi:
Need your advice, I recently moved into a new condo, paying premium rent close to $2800 per month in Toronto for a two bedroom. there was a list of lot of items to fix including painting. My landlord agreed and accepted that he/she will hire an experienced person to fix all the issues including paint and I happily accepted that while things are being fixed, I would bear the inconveniences.
The tech is old guy maybe in his 60s, he fixed some stuff but when it came to paint he did a really poor job (i mean real poor job), as when he painted the previous paint could be seen through, There are streaks, missed spots, he put paint on ceiling. The wall and ceiling edge has curvy paint lines. It just looks horrible and totally unprofessional. I could have done a way better job then what this experienced painter did and I have only painted once in my lifetime.
What are my options, if the landlord disagrees and stands by the horrible work the person has done? Can i take the landlord to landlord and Tenant board as there was an agreement that the landlord has hired an experienced person and expectation that the paint will be done to some standard expected from an experienced person? I really need your help as all my stuff on the condo is not even setup yet as we are awaiting the issues to be address and the rest of the house painted? |
