Respected madam,

I would like to clarify about PR card renewal >PR validity is Sept -2014 to Sept -2019 .

Our PR card expires on Sept 4 ,2019 for myself and family (Spouse and two kids).
We are staying in Canada since 10 th Sept, 2017.
Therefore, our total number of days in Canada is only 684 days.

I am a bit confused on the lack of no; of days that is 730 days for Renewal.
What is best suitable solution so that they wont refuse Renewal ?.
Also, is the Renewal Process done online or by post?

Eagerly Waiting for a Reply.

Thanks and Regards
Smitha.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

The expiry date of the PR card is 5 years after the date it was printed, not 5 years after the date that you become Permanent Residents. A Permanent resident needs to fulfil the two-year (730 day) requirement for the five-year time frame starting from when they become a permanent resident.

It can be prior to the PR card expiry, however, an applicant should be sure that they have fulfilled the residency requirements for the PR status before they submit the application to renew their PR card. If they try to apply for the new PR card without fulfilling the requirements it may cause some difficulties.

If you have more specific questions regarding your situation you may want to inquire with an Immigration Lawyer or reputable Immigration Consultant https://settlement.org/ontario/legal-services/lawyers-and-other-legal-help/find-a-lawyer/should-i-get-help-with-my-immigration-application-from-an-immigration-consultant-or-lawyer/

We hope that you will find this information useful.

Thank you,

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this situation.

We suggest you review our Settlement.Org article Do I really need a PR card to travel back to Canada?

Here is an excerpt:
“According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), no matter how you travel back to Canada, you must prove to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer that you have valid permanent resident status. This applies to all family members who are permanent residents, including children.”

You may wish to contact IRCC Client Support Centre directly or via their webform if you are already abroad.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello There,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

You may find useful information in the article on Settlement.Org, What are the residency requirements for permanent residents (PRs)? Here is an excerpt:

To meet these residency obligations, you must be physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5-year period. The 5-year period is assessed on a rolling basis. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will look back at your time in Canada over the previous 5 years.

This means that you can spend a total of up to 3 years outside of Canada during a 5-year period.

It is good to plan ahead to meet your residency requirement. You may spend a total of up to 3 years outside of Canada during a 5-year period and still meet this requirement.

We hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to post them here.

Sincerely,

Your Settlement.Org Team

Hello There,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

According to IRCC article, Find out if you have the language proof for citizenship: Step 1

If you attended a secondary or post-secondary program in English or French, you may:
[...] send a copy of proof that you completed or are attending a program with your application. Proof can be your:
  • diploma
  • transcript
  • certificate
Your proof must be in English or French. If it’s in another language, you must also send a certified English or French translation. The translation should show that the language of instruction of the program was English or French.

You may also find helpful information in the IRCC Help Centre article, What documents can I use to prove that I meet the citizenship language requirement?

You may also find useful information in the Settlement.Org article How do I get my documents translated?

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to post them here.

We hope this information is helpful.

Hi,

I am Canadaian and married to my husband like two years ago. After we got married, I helped him get the permanent resident in Canada. But, after he replied he went back to India and work not even stay with, however, now he wants to divorce with me (after he got his PR). It actually really sad, I feel like he takes advantages of me by taking his permanent resident in Canada. And I saw the article saying that If you want to get divorce, "You need to prove that you and your spouse have been living in BC for at least a year." Is it true?

What should I do? and What can I do?

Plz help me
