Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and questions with us.
You can find some information regarding this type of sponsorship in our How do I sponsor parents, grandparents, adopted children and other relatives? article.
It is important to note the definition of dependent child. Here is an excerpt,
Who is a dependent child?
Note: As of August 1, 2014, a dependent child must be under 19 years old (previously 22), according to Citizenship and Immigration Canada
For sponsorship purposes, a dependent child may be your own child or those of the person you are sponsoring. According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada, they must:

About BSF186 for former resident

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and questions with us.
Regarding your questions,
1. What is the difference between BSF186 and 186A? 2. Which one is applicable for me? 186 or 186A or in white paper list of my goods?
According to the Border Information Service, you can complete the BSF186. The difference between them is that the BSF186A is simply a sheet of lines to be used as an attachment in the event you have more items and they cannot be included on the BSF186 form.
Regarding your question.
3. I will bring only my clothing, bed sheet, some used utensils and crockeries for my family use. Will I need to submit form BSF186/186A for this type of very personal and family used materials?
According to the Border Information Service representative that we spoke to, yes, you should list these on your BSF186/A forms.
Regarding your questions,
4. Can I bring some very essential and common medication (mostly OTC medicine) like paracetamol, antihistamine, cough syrup or antacid etc for few days only? 5. Can I bring antibiotic without prescription?
We have contacted Health Canada and are awaiting information from them regarding these items. We will update you as soon as we receive any definitive information from them.
You may want to contact Health Canada directly for information. You can contact them here:
Telephone: 613-957-2991
We strongly suggest that you also contact the Border Information Service directly to confirm the information we have received from them and to receive any additional information regarding your situation.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Eviction based on Late Rent Payment - Possible?
Moderator
|
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be very concerned about this situation.
According to the CANADA MORTGAGE AND HOUSING CORPORATION,
When a tenant faces money problems, an understanding landlord might help from time to time, but tenants can face serious legal implications for failing to pay rent. The landlord might seek payment by taking the tenant to court. Constant lateness or non-payment might force a landlord to seek compensation for that loss through the courts, and he or she may proceed with eviction. Further, chronic problems could ruin references and harm your credit rating.
and
When is the Rent Due?
Rent is due on the actual day stipulated in the rental agreement. In most places in Canada, rent is considered late on the day after it is due. For example, if your rental agreement states that rent is due on the first day of the month, the rent would be considered late from the second day of the month onward until it is paid. If the rental agreement stipulated that rent was due on the fifteenth of the month, then the rent would be considered late from the sixteenth day of the month onward. In many jurisdictions, landlords commonly impose a reasonable penalty for late rent. (For specifics, see the Provincial and Territorial Fact Sheets).
In some provinces, the law requires that landlords give a grace period of up to 3 days to allow the tenant to pay. In other provinces, however, landlords are within their rights to notify the tenant as soon as rent is late that they wish to terminate their rental agreement because of rent arrears. Once a tenant pays the rent, a notice to terminate their rental agreement would no longer be valid. It is in the tenant's best interest to pay the rent on time because frequent late payment could be grounds for non-renewal of a rental agreement.
Specifically, regarding grace periods and late payments, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation - Ontario Fact Sheet,
Late Rent Payments
The day after rent is due, if it is unpaid; the landlord can give a “Notice to terminate for nonpayment of rent.” The tenant then has 14 days if they are monthly or yearly renters, and 7 days if they are daily or weekly renters, to pay. If this grace period passes and no rent has been paid, the landlord can file an application with the Landlord and Tenant Board for rent arrears.
It may be best for you to contact the nearest Community Legal Clinic for some information regarding what your rights are in this type of situation.
If you are having difficulty paying your rent, you may also want to contact the nearest rent bank to see if they can provide some assistance.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.
You can apply for OHIP as soon as you have the documents you need. But you will not get a Health Card and your coverage will not start until you become eligible (after 3 months).
According to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, when you apply, staff will look at your documents to figure out when the 3-month waiting period starts.
You must also be physically present in Ontario for 153 days of the first 183 days after the day you apply for OHIP.
You may want to look at some information regarding what your options are during that 3-month waiting period.
There is some information in our Settlement.Org How can I pay for health care in my first 3 months in Ontario, or if I don't have OHIP? article.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this.
We have had some of our users previously state that they have been able to contact CIC from abroad by dialing 1 613 944 4000. Listen to the options to get to IRCC. Then you should be transferred to the IRCC Call Centre.
Please note though we are not sure if this number continues to work this way. We had one of our Settlement.Org Discussion Forum users post at the end of April this year, that they were able to successfully use that number.
You may want to give it a try.
Please be aware that long distance charges will apply.
