Time taken for PR Card

Hi:

We landed in Canada in early April and were able to provide Service Canada with the address within 2 days. At that time,
the web site indicated that it is taking 76 days to issue the PR Card. Now the website indicates 85 days. Should we expect our PR Cards in 76 days or 85 days from the submission of the address

The second issue is that we had to leave the country to wrap up and let the kids finish their terms. In this process we have arranged to end our residency in Dubai as well and the family will be in home country for a month before movinng to Canada. In case the PR Cards are delayed further, will the family be able to apply for PRTD from the home country when their immigration visas were stamped in Dubai

Thanks in advance for your response

Thanks a lot for your quick response. We were about to apply for PRTD when someone told us that there is a risk of the embassy refusing to issue these. Further in case the PRTD is refused the PR Card itself may be cancelled. We find it a bit hard to believe as we have a very genuine case where we had to go back to wrap up and let our kids finish their school year. further, we have proof tht we have already rented a proper townhouse in Canada, taken appointment for assessment for schools for our kids etc. Are there any chances of PRTD being refused

Permanent Resident Card - New Immigrants

Hi:
In our case two of the 5 members have received the PR Card and upon checking we were told that the other three cases have gone for verification. Among the two who did not get are my 10 year old daughter and 14 year old son. I was wondering what is being verified after having gone through full investigations at the time of issuing landing papers!

In any case we had gotten an appointment for School assessment and rented a place as well. We have booked our belongings and now really hoping that either the cards come before mid August or we get the PRTDs we have applied for.

Hi

My parents came to Canada on April 2, 2014. They were told back then that they will be getting the cards within 2 months.

Unfortunately, we urgently need to leave the country at the end of the month and we still didn't get the cards. Today is the 76th day.

We called CIC and we learned that they increased their processing time to 94 days. The call centre agents are not helpful with providing us with the application status. They don't even want to look up the application saying the processing time is not over 94 days.

I am just wondering if people who landed at the beginning of April 2014 can confirm or not if they got their cards already. We are hoping my parents' cards got processed in an earlier batch (not the 94 days batch)

Since we will be out of the country for 1 week, we won't be able to apply for a travel document. The only option is to cross the border and use the CoPR to enter the country at Buffalo.

We are already stressed planning the re-route flights to buffalo (will pay extra too), asking a family member to cross the border to pick us up and bring us back to canada from Buffalo.

We would like to get some feedback about the process: Is it a lengthy and difficult process to enter using CoPR?

Is there any other option we forgot to think about?

Many thanks

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and questions with us.

It is unfortunate that it has been taking so long to get the PR cards.

We hope that others with a similar timeline can share some updates with you.

In terms of re-entering Canada, you can find some detailed information on the CIC Website in the I need to leave Canada and I do not have a PR card. Can I later return to Canada without a PR card? - If you return in a private vehicle, like your own car - FAQ.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Travel Document Processing Time

It can be delayed beyond the published time. Same thing happened to us. However, if you have to travel, you can temporarily ask for your passport back and re-submit once your case is decided upon
