Apply for TRV and/or TRP? - For my Child

muz

Greetings,

To fulfill my Residency Obligation to stay in Canada for 2 years out of 5 years, I must return to Canada before 15-Jul-2015.

I have my own child (now 1.5 years old) who was born outside Canada and holds an Indian Passport.

In order to return to Canada along with my newborn child, I am supposed to approach nearest Canadian Embassy to get Entry Visa for my newborn child. Here I am confused, should I apply for TRV or TRP ?

Although there are ample Blogs/Discussions related to the same issue !

But, I did not find any satisfactory/straight answer endorsed by CIC or related competent authorities from Canada.

Your advise/guidance might help hundreds of people facing same issue as mine.

Thanks - MUZI

1. You first apply for a TRV and if that is refused, then you request a TRP for the child. If both are refused, either you or your spouse (if both are PRs or if you are single) one will have to return to Canada to submit the sponsorship.

PMM

Thanks PMM !

I have few supplementary questions related to the subject.

Once I bring my child to Canada [most probably Ontario] on TRV, where and which department should I apply for the PR Card ? I have seen in many forums where they say that I can apply for PR in two ways "In Land" and Out Land ! Could you explain what does it mean ? And Which one is feasible for in my case.

Thanks - Muz

Today my daughter was granted TRV valid for next three year. And now we will be moving to Canada by Jul 2, 2015. Do I need to apply Permanent Residence for my daughter before moving to Canada or once we move to Canada in July ? In your last post you mentioned that I have to sponsor the child outland, what does that mean ?

I first landed in Canada on Jul 2012 as an immigrant and stayed in Canada (Calgary) only for 12 days.
Now I am returning to Canada (Toronto) for permanent settlement. And it seems there is 3 months waiting period to get OHIP Health card !
Do I need to buy private health insurance plan for the waiting period? I am coming along with my daughter (2 years old), who was born outside Canada and is on TRV (visitor). And I will apply for her PR once we reach Canada. If we have to buy private health insurance, is she eligible for private health insurance?
What insurance companies I can approach to avail our health insurance plans to cover up the OHIP waiting period.

Thanks - Muz

Hi JRA714,
I attached following documents:
1. Copies of PR Cards [My and my wife]
2. Passport Copies [My, my wife and the child]
3. A Letter in which I mentioned that we are going for permanent settlement and requested them to grant TRV for my baby born outside Canada.
4. Bank Statement [approximately $60,000]

Wish you very good luck.

Hello Klaus,

It says "non-Ontario license holders can drive in Ontario for 60 days before an exchange is required". Since I am also new to Ontario and hold international license (which means non-Ontario License), then I should be able to drive legally in Ontario for first 60 days ! Is my understanding correct ?

Thanks,

Non-Resident of Canada

Hello !

I along with my family landed Canada in 2012 and we stayed there only for 12 days.

At that time we applied for PR cards and SIN Cards. And also opened a Bank Account along with credit card with RBC. We did not apply for any Health Card and Driver's License.

Now we are going back to Canada by end of June for permanent settlement and to fulfill residency obligations.

Based on my above information , will I be considered a non-resident of Canada by Canadian Revenue Agency?

Do I have pay taxes on the money (earned outside Canada ) which I will transfer to Canada for settlement purposes?

Importing Car from United States

Hi,

I am a Permanent Resident of Canada and living in Ontario. My brother is working in New York, USA and he is leaving USA for good. He has 2012 model Nissan Sentra 2.0 SR which he wants to gift me.
As per RIV Canada, the model is admissible to Canada with couple of notes to be followed. Now my questions are as follows:
1. What is the right procedure to be followed to import this Car into Ontario Canada as a gift?
2. Since my brother will gift this car to me, is there any exemption in paying taxes ? And how much Taxes I have to pay If the original cost of the car was CAD20,000/-?
3. If I do not have Ontario driving license at the moment, can I keep that car?

Thanks - MUZ

Hello,
As I have mentioned earlier that we are returning back to Toronto Canada by Jul 05, 2015. My youngest daughter (2 years old) who will be traveling with us to Toronto on her TRV. I will apply for her PR once I reach there. My question is when can I apply for her Ontario Health Insurance Coverage ? Is there any way once I submit her PR application in Canada, and based on the PR application reference I can apply for OHIC?

Thanks - Muz

Family Class Applicants – Fees for child

I am sponsoring my 2year old child, born outside Canada. And she is with me in Canada on TRV.
I have prepared all the documents to sponsor her. I want to know how much fees I have to pay while submitting the application. In the CIC website the fees mentioned is bit confusing for me. As per the website:
$75 - Sponsorship application
$475 - Principal applicant
$75-Principal applicant, if under 19 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner (including a dependent child of the sponsor
$150- A family member of the principal applicant who is under 19 years of age and is not a spouse or common-law partner

What fees i have to pay for the application?

Thanks - Muz

Hi,

I brought my daughter (2 years old) on TRV to Canada on Jul-2015. And on Toronto Airport officer granted her Visitor Record valid for a year. Applied for her Permanent Residence immediately after her arrival. In Sep-2015, I got confirmation from CIC that I have met the sponsor eligibility criteria and the PR file of my daughter was forwarded to New Delhi.
But unfortunately till now I did not hear anything from Canadian mission in New Delhi ! I knew it does not take long for kids' PR applications, but I am not sure why there is delay in my case ! CIC website shows may application is "In Process" status.
Is this delay normal, and how long does it take in average? Should I write to Canadian Embassy in New Delhi to know the current status?
Thanks
