Health Insurance for Newcomers

You should buy private insurance for both of you, it is possible to include her into your private insurance policy. You can buy coverage for 3 months waiting period. As for your daughter, you may need to buy coverage until she gets the provincial coverage.

I first landed in Canada on Jul 2012 as an immigrant and stayed in Canada (Calgary) only for 12 days.
Now I am returning to Canada (Toronto) for permanent settlement. And it seems there is 3 months waiting period to get OHIP Health card !
Do I need to buy private health insurance plan for the waiting period? I am coming along with my daughter (2 years old), who was born outside Canada and is on TRV (visitor). And I will apply for her PR once we reach Canada. If we have to buy private health insurance, is she eligible for private health insurance?
What insurance companies I can approach to avail our health insurance plans to cover up the OHIP waiting period.

Thanks - Muz

Giving Birth to a Baby with Expired OHIP

Private health insurance won't cover delivery and pre-natal costs if the person is pregnant. There is an option to cover pregnancy-related complications due to medical emergency up to 31 st week of the pregnancy period.

Dear,
We have our PRs and due to family issues we had to stay out of Canada for a year. Now we think our OHIPs are expired.
We are having a baby in 6 months and we are coming back in 2 months. It means during months 5 to 8 of the pregnancy we will not be covered by OHIP.
Could you give me a solution if there is a possibility of urgent revalidation of OHIP or if we could use private insurance to cover the costs of these months ?
Thanks all.
