Hello,
I'm very interested to sponsor my mom. She is 78 years old and currently leaves in Poland.
I have no other relatives left in there. I noticed that the application process for 2017 is closed as of Feb 2017 and no applications are taken until 2018.
That's really long time.
Could you please let me know what other options are available to help her to come here.
Thank you in advance.
1. Your only other option would be the Super Visa, which would allow your mother to visit for up to 2 years at a time. Read the following:http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp |

Hello,
I m seeking advice on the following. Both I and my husband are PRs temporary living outside Canada. Recently we got a baby born overseas. We r planning to settle permanently in Toronto. For this we got a TRV for our little one. Once we r in Canada we will start sponsoring process. I have several questions in this regard 1. Do we need to request a TRP at the point of entry or we can apply for sponsorship with TRV? 2. How to ensure we will get at least 1 year stay for my little one on TRV?? i heard usually they grant 6 months?
Thanks in advance Irina
1. As you were issued a TRV for the child s/he doesn't require a TRP. 2. Once you have returned to Canada with the child, you can then start the sponsorship process. The application will be processed as "out of Canada" but most likely at the Ottawa office. 3. Ask for a year on entry. If you don't get one, then if only 6 months are issued, then you apply for an extension of the visitor status near the end of the 6 months. |

My PR Card expired yesterday. I have submitted my renewal application a month ago. I am in big need to go to Europe middle of June. Is any way I can contact an actual office and find out if my PR card will be ready by the time I'm leaving Canada? Also, looking into applying for a Permanent Resident Travel document in Europe...I'm only there for one week. Any suggestions as what are my options right now? Thank you
1. It may be close the present processing time is 66 days plus mailing. No, you can't contact the processing office, you can try through the call centre, but they won't have any information at this stage. 2. You have 2 options, if you don't get your PR card in time. Apply for a PRTD in Europe, or return to a US airport near the border and use private transport to the border with your COPR. |

Where Do I Get The Marriage Certificate?

Hello, I was born in Canada, and my marriage was on April 23/2017 in Pakistan.
I wish to sponsor my wife to Canada however before I can begin the process I want to apply for a marriage certificate.
I checked the website however was unable to find the information.
If you could point me in the right direction I'd be great.
Thanks,
Bilal
1. You need to get it from where you were married in Pakistan. From the IRCC checklist
For marriages which took place in Pakistan: The marriage certificate to be submitted is the “Nikkah Nama”. It must bear the Nikkah registry seal as evidence that the marriage has been properly registered by the union council or the relevant government authority in the relevant region. The NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) issued marriage certificate should be included but is not sufficient evidence on its own. |

I would like some information on how my family and I may sponsor our grandmother who is alone in Sri lanka.
We have all been here in Canada for the past 30+ years and are Canadian citizens.
Please let me know how we may start the process.
Thanks
1. You will have to apply for the Parent/Grandparent lottery with 10K spaces in 2018 when it opens. There were nearly a 100K people who applied in the 2017 lottery. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/parents.asp 2. You could apply for a super visa for here, which would allow her to visit Canada for 2 years, note though she would have to pass a medical and have health insurance for that period. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp |

Thanks.
1. Pretty good, as you were removed as a minor and are applying to return at the first available opportunity. |

Hello,
Thank you for sharing this situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be very concerned about this situation.
You can find some detailed information on the Your Legal Rights website in the Will I be forced to leave Canada if I leave my partner? question.
Here is an excerpt,
Your partner might threaten to have you deported from Canada if you report their abuse or if you leave them. Deported from Canada means being forced to leave the country.
Your partner does not have the right to have you deported. Only federal immigration authorities can decide to deport someone.
The risk of you being forced to leave Canada depends on your immigration status here.
and
Permanent resident with conditions
Immigration authorities might not do anything if you leave your partner. But if you have permanent resident status with a condition to live with your partner who sponsored you, you're expected to live with your sponsor for 2 years after you receive status.
If you separate during those 2 years, you could lose your status and be forced to leave Canada.
But, if you separate because of abuse or neglect, IRCC could set aside the condition that you must live with your sponsor. This means you don't have to follow this condition.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

My father was migrated to Canada in 1980's and also he had sponsored my sisters and brother to go to Canada and now they are resident in Canada.
My question is now my father had already passed away since long time ago and Now am I still eligible to apply for the Citizenship or PR in Canada myself?
Is my sister or brother eligible to sponsor me to go there in Canada?
Regards & Thanks
1. Your siblings aren't eligible to sponsor you. 2. It depends if your father was a Canadian citizen at the time of your birth. If he was, then you would be eligible to apply for "proof of citizenship" 3. If neither of the above apply, then you would have qualify and apply as a skilled worker under Express Entry. |

But now we're already divorce for 2years and he always threat me and he told me that he's going to get my Permanent Card
.Is their any chance or does he have the right to get my permanent residence card even though were already divorce for 2 years?
1. The only way your ex could effect your PR status, is if he sponsored you as a spouse, and you never lived with him or left him within a week or two of "landing". Then there is the possibility if CBSA receives a complaint, from the ex that it was a marriage of Convenience and he was fooled by you . Unlikely, that it will happen but that is the only way he could effect your PR status. |

Hi, I have already submitted an application to renew my PR Card, which expires in July 2017 and had not planned to travel until way after I received my new card. However, due to unforeseen circumstances I have to go to the US at the end of June. Please advise if the validity of a PR card is regarded the same way as that of a passport in that it technically becomes useless 6 months before the actual expiry date?
Essentially, I need to know if it's okay to travel outside of Canada (by air) and return just a few days before my PR card expires.
Travel dates: Leaving Canada on June 30, 2017 and returning on July 3, 2017. PR Card expiration: July 6, 2017.
I do not know if this has any relevance to my situation but I also hold a valid Nexus card.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Ian
1. As long as you present PR card is valid, then you shouldn't have any problems re-entering Canada. |

In May 2017, I found out that I have a permanent resident status in Canada when I apply for ETA. Twenty-seven years ago, I came to Canada as a minor with my parent (when I was six), and my family returned back to our home country after a short visit in Canada. Two year ago, I have married with my husband who is a Canadian citizen and we have lived together in Hong Kong since the first day of our marriage. I and my husband plan to return to Canada for goods by the end of this year. I would like to apply for the Permanent Resident Travel document. I have these questions for my application: 1. Am I eligible to apply for the Permanent Resident Travel Document? 2. Do I meet the residency obligation by accompanying a Canadian citizen for 2 years (which meet the residency obligation). 3. Also, I don't have Social Insurance Number. Would a lack of a SIN number affect my application for PR Travel Document?
1. Yes, as you are living for at least 2 years with a CC spouse overseas. 2. See 1. 3. No, SIN has nothing to do with Immigration. |
