Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us. We can appreciate that you and your partner would be concerned about this.
Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to say how long this process will take.
However, you can find some detailed information on what this process entails in the CIC ENF 27 Permanent Resident Card Operations Manual.
Here is an excerpt,
5.5. Correction procedures – Permanent resident documentation One of the primary goals of the permanent resident card initiative is to enhance the quality and reliability of status identification documents issued by CIC. In order to achieve this goal, it is imperative that client information recorded on the PR card be accurate.
A data quality verification process is in place at the CPC-PRC to ensure that the information recorded on the Confirmation of Permanent Resident form [IMM 5292B] matches the FOSS record before a PR card is issued. In cases where a discrepancy is noted, steps must be taken to identify the correct information and make the appropriate amendment. It is important that amendments be processed in a systematic manner.
We hope that others can share their experiences and suggestions with you.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Thanks PMM,
This is a really helpful link. Thank you for sharing it.
Jignesh, here is an excerpt:
Summary of when a co-signer can be added to an existing sponsorship application:
In all cases, the sponsor must have met all sponsorship eligibility requirements at the initial sponsorship assessment.
In all cases, a co-signer may not be added after a negative (Not Met) recommendation has been rendered on the initial assessment.
In all cases, a co-signer may not be added after a negative (Not Met) recommendation has been rendered on a reassessment.
CPC-M will add a co-signer after the initial assessment, even if the sponsor did not choose to include the co-signer at initial filing of the sponsorship application, as long as the sponsor met the original financial assessment and all other eligibility requirements on his own.
If the sponsor is given the opportunity to add a co-signer following a change in circumstances and chooses not to do so and a negative recommendation is rendered, on a reassessment, the sponsor cannot then request to add a co-signer.
Although the facts in the Dokaj case were specific to the sponsorship of parents, the re-interpretation of the regulations, allowing the addition of the co-signer after filing, will apply to all family class categories where the financial test is applicable.
Again, your wife may want to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly for information specific to the application.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Rent Increase

Hello H.McDonald,
Thank you for sharing your question and situation with us.
According to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing website in the Commercial Tenancies Act - What you need to know section,
Rent Increases
Most commercial tenancy agreements outline in detail issues such as the amount of rent charged and frequency of rental fee increases.
In the event that there isn’t a current tenancy agreement, the landlord may increase the rent by any amount at any time.
The Act does not regulate rent increases.
- Note Landlords should always consider giving a tenant a reasonable notice of a rent increase in writing.
You can also find some information in the Frequently Asked Question section.
Here is an excerpt,
If a tenant does not have a lease and the landlord increases the rent, does the tenant have to pay the increased rent if the tenant decides to end the tenancy?
No, the tenant can give proper notice that he/she intends to leave, and pay the original rent for the final month.
If you have any additional questions that are specific to your situation, you may want to contact the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing directly.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello,
It is important to note that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) are not the same. That is why we have stated that you may want to contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to find out what they will allow, seeing as you have already contacted the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
As suggested above, based on information from a CIC representative, for any type of documents/information that you are required to submit, and are unable to submit, you should include a letter outlining the steps you have taken in order to try and acquire those documents/information and why you have been unable to do so.
That would mean stating that you have contacted the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and they have stated that they do not have some of the information you require. Just as you have shared with us.
Again, we strongly suggest that you confirm this information by contacting the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly. This way they can provide you with some information specifically related to your situation.
You may also want to contact the nearest settlement agency found in our Services Near Me section to see if they can help you with this process and draft a letter with the details if necessary.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Complaint Regarding an Evaluation Service - Help

Hello Tiya,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this situation.
We have had some similar questions in the past and have received some clarification and some procedure information directly from WES.
Here it is,
Pre-Application Process
•Call your local agency serving immigrants and find out when a WES representative will deliver an info session and attend the info session to learn not only how to apply to WES , but also how to use your evaluation report effectively to gain recognition from employers, academic institutions and professional licensing bodies
•Check WES website http://www.wes.org/ca/info/calendar.asp regularly to learn about upcoming WES Seminars for internationally educated individuals
Submitting Application for Evaluations
•If you still have questions about the WES evaluation application submission, submit your questions at www.wes.or/ca/contact
•The fees are based on the two types of evaluations WES provides: basic Document-by-Document ($115 Canadian) and detailed Course-by-Course ($210 Canadian). For the distinction between the two reports, visit WES website http://www.wes.org/ca/fees/evaltypes.asp
•ICAP service, which stores your verified academic transcripts, and send them to institutions at your request, costs an additional $35 per application.
•Submission of incomplete or incorrect documentation is the main reason your evaluation report might be delayed; we urge you to review Required Documents for your country of education (http://www.wes.org/ca/required/index.asp) and submit all the required documents.
After Receiving Your Evaluation Report
• WES is one of the very few evaluation services which has a “free” appeal process. For questions about your evaluation report, please write to (always state your WES Reference Number):
Manager of Evaluation World Education Services 2 Carlton Street, Suite 1400 Toronto, ON M5B 1J3 Fax: 416-972-9004 www.wes.org/ca/contact
WES has limited office hours for walk-in service, and we urge you to use our on-line or telephone service for assistance. The telephone service is available 9 AM to 5 PM from Monday to Friday.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

International Students Getting Married in Canada

Hello,
Thank you for sharing this situation and question with us.
You can find some information regarding marriage in Ontario in our Settlement.Org Who can get married in Ontario? article.
This article mainly discusses the requirements to get married in Ontario.
In terms of benefits, we are unsure what type of benefits you are referring to. If you are referring to benefits such as social assistance type benefits, simply getting married in Ontario would not make someone qualify for that type of assistance.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
