Child Benefit for Non PR Child
Drasky
|
Hello there,
My wife, daughter and I are Canadian PR. My younger child was born outside Canada and came to Canada with TRV (visit visa). We are living in Ontario.
My question is ...
Is he eligible for child benefit like my other PR child before his PR application is decided?
Thank you in advance. |

Thank you very much, Anna.
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
We can appreciate that you would be interested in finding out this type of information.
According to the the Canada child tax benefit Call Centre, the only status requirements in the application are for the parents who are applying for the benefit.
You can find this information on the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website.
Here is an excerpt,
You or your spouse or common-law partner must be:
-a Canadian citizen; -a permanent resident (as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act); -a protected person (as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act); or -a temporary resident (as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) who has lived in Canada throughout the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month other than one that states "does not confer status" or "does not confer temporary resident status." If this is your situation, do not apply before the 19th month.
They stated that your child does not have to be a Permanent Resident.
We strongly suggest that it is best that you contact the Canada child tax benefit Call Centre directly to confirm this information.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Certificates - Do we need to bring Originals?
Drasky

This is up to you. Nobody will ask your certificate for landing and living in Canada. You will need certificates for those purposes usually certificates are asked for .... like job, higher education etc I and my wife have recently obtained Canadian PR from India. I want to know if I need to carry the originals of my education and experience certificates to Canada

Can a FSW land in Montreal?

Hi Maggie, Landing in Montreal in your case actually not 'landing' at all. It seems it's a transit. Here in Montreal airport nobody will ask you about your papers and other things. And you will land to board again in your Toronto bound plane. Do not get anxious. Hope for the best. |

TRP for Upcoming Sponsorship Application
Drasky
|
Hi there!
My overseas born boy got visit visa (TRV) to come to Canada with PR parents. I came to know that, sponsorship application is to be submitted from Canada and will be finalized by respective visa office outside Canada. According to CIC website, it needs total 16 months to be decided for PR.
We are coming to Canada after 2 months.
My question is.......
Should I apply for TRP also? (Though TRV is for 5 years and multiple entry).
If yes, why TRP is needed? Can I apply now?
Will it reduce my waiting time for PR from 16 months?
Anybody with similar condition, please suggest me, I need to reduce my waiting time for PR decision form 16 months.
I asked my local visa office but they are not responding.
What to do??

Apply for TRV and/or TRP? - For my Child

Hello MUZI,
I am exactly in the same situation as that of yours. I want to know to which address to Mississauga you sent the sponsorship application? To which particular post box no? Because there are separate post box no for each category of application.
Regarding your waiting time, CIC web site shows it will need 16 months for decision of sponsoring child from inside Canada category. So you are in normal time frame. If you write before 16 months, most probably they will not answer you. Hope for the best.
Hi,
I brought my daughter (2 years old) on TRV to Canada on Jul-2015. And on Toronto Airport officer granted her Visitor Record valid for a year. Applied for her Permanent Residence immediately after her arrival. In Sep-2015, I got confirmation from CIC that I have met the sponsor eligibility criteria and the PR file of my daughter was forwarded to New Delhi. But unfortunately till now I did not hear anything from Canadian mission in New Delhi ! I knew it does not take long for kids' PR applications, but I am not sure why there is delay in my case ! CIC website shows may application is "In Process" status. Is this delay normal, and how long does it take in average? Should I write to Canadian Embassy in New Delhi to know the current status? Thanks Muz

About BSF186 for former resident
Drasky

Hello I am a PR living outside Canada for last 3 years. Now I decided to come and live permanently in Canada. According to Canada border services agency, former residents are eligible for tax exemption. My questions...
1. What is the difference between BSF186 and 186A? 2. Which one is applicable for me? 186 or 186A or in white paper list of my goods? 3. I will bring only my clothing, bed sheet, some used utensils and crockeries for my family use. Will I need to submit form BSF186/186A for this type of very personal and family used materials? 4. Can I bring some very essential and common medication (mostly OTC medicine) like paracetamol, antihistamine, cough syrup or antacid etc for few days only? 5. Can I bring antibiotic without prescription?
Thank you. |

Sponsoring dependent child in Canada category
Drasky
|
Hello I am to sponsor my minor child, living in Canada brought by visit visa. The application package in the web site of CIC shows ---two categories
1. If your spouse, partner or dependent child lives outside Canada, 2. If your spouse or partner lives with you in Canada, I am not sure which one is applicable for my situation.
Another issue regarding fees....
1. Principal applicant fees 475 CAD 2. Minor dependent child 75 CAD
What about minor child when he himself is principal applicant ?

Sponsoring dependent child in Canada category

Hello everybody!
I have applied for PR for my overseas born son and the application is 'in process'. My son is now in Canada with a visit visa which is to be expired soon. I applied for extension of visit visa or to issue a TRP (Temporary Resident Permit) with reference of his PR application status. I want to know ....what might be the next procedure. Because still no response for visa extension. What might happen if visit visa expires by this time and no response about the extension or TRP??
Thank you. |

Citizenship of Minor Child
Drasky

Hello there
I need information/advice regarding the citizenship application of my 5-year-old son. We, the family of three, are eligible to apply for citizenship in the month of July 2019 except my son who will be eligible in six months. So I want to know-
1. Should we apply separately? 2. Should we wait another six months, until December, my son to be eligible and apply all together? 3. Are there any difficulties if the 5-year old boy applies alone after the parents? 4. What are the points in favour or against?
Thanks |
