Confirmation PR IMM5688 conflict expiration date

I reside outside of Canada and planning to move to Canada later.

I received my IMM5688 couple months ago and i saw the personal details expiration date is 2019. However, I recently found out there is two additional expiration dated 2016/9/1 for the application and medical details. What is the difference? Which one is the actual expiration date for me to officially land as PR?

Since it is expired, what should I do?

Thank you.

P.S. I tried to find this info on the CIC website but I dont think I am having any luck.

1. Your COPR has expired, it was valid until 01/Sept/16 the date you had to "land" by. Which would be 1 year from the date of the medical. So you are going to have to re-apply

Hi everyone,

So i just applied for the PR, I've been told it'll be ready in about 4 to 6 weeks, due to my husbands work, he has to travel to another country before i get the PR, and i want to go with him, my question is, how can i travel and come back to Canada without a PR? is it possible ?

Thanks

1. Without a PR card, and if you are traveling by air, you will need to obtain a PR travel document from an overseas Canadian Immigration office to return to Canada. The airline won't board you without it or your PR card.
2. You could return by land from the US in a non commercial vehicle and your COPR would be sufficient.

I have been in the UK 10 years, I want to return to Canada but I am unsure if I apply to resume citizenship or will I need to start again?

Need some advice!

1. Are you sure your parents renounced their citizenship? Just leaving Canada doesn't result in a renouncement it is a formal process. Under the present Act, minors can't renounce citizenship. You probably should apply for proof of citizenship, and determine if your citizenship was actually renounced. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp

I have a related question, I landed in Dec 26, 2013, but left after a week and then visit again for a week in august 10, 2016.
My pr card has a pretty since date of Dec 26, 2013 and an expiry date of Feb 28, 2019.
My question is that, when is 5 year counted from, from the date of my landing or date of expiry card on my profile card. I can think about moving back based on when my 5 years are counted from?

1. Date of "landing". So if you only have been in Canada for 2 weeks in the past 3 years, then you have to come and remain in Canada for the next 2 years within the next 3 weeks, if you wish to maintain your PR status.

Hi I have become permanent resident when I first landed in Canada. I have my PR card with me. Unfortunately I am missing my confirmation of landing paper which was attached with my old passport. I will apply for my Canadian citizenship soon. Do you think it might be a problem without that paper or PR card is good enough? Please advise.

1. Apply to get a copy of COPR, as you will need it for citizenship and for your OAP. You can submit an explanation letter with the citizenship application why you don't have, but you will need it in future.

Hello,

My parents just received their PR documents (Dec 2016). However, it says it's valid until March 2017 only. What does it actually mean? It does not leave much time for them to pack up and move within 3 months.

Would it be possible for them to come to Canada before March 2017 but then go back to their country to wrap up everything and return for good to Canada? If so, what is the timeline given?

Could you please clarify? Many thanks.

1. Yes, they can "land" before the COPR expires, and return home to pack up. To return, they will need either their PR card (50 days processing) or a PR Travel Document issued abroad.

Pick up renewed PR card or renounce PR?

Hi

Hello, I have a difficult decision about whether to have my wife pick up her approved, renewed PR card, or renounce her PR status.

The problem is we are currently living overseas in Asia, and my wife has been asked to pick up her renewed PR card in person in Canada. Not only will it cost more than a thousand dollars to fly to Canada to get the card, but she will also have to apply for a Travel Document to enter Canada since her previous card is expired. The travel document costs over a hundred dollars itself, since the local embassy outsources the application process to another country, and uses a third party company to receive the application and transfer it to the other country.
The original PR application itself was a thousand dollars, plus my wife paid a few hundred dollars for translated documents on her end.

So, I am faced with the question of whether it is worth spending the money to get the new PR card, or just renouncing her PR status until we move back to Canada some time in the future (currently undecided). I am not sure how easy it will be to apply for PR status again in the future (I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring her) if she has already renounced it in the past.

Any info or ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you.

1. She doesn't have to renounce her PR status, as she is residing with a Canadian citizen spouse abroad, which preserves her PR status.
2. So when she wishes to return to Canada, she would have to apply for PR Travel Document, which is $50 plus VAC fees. She could apply for a multiple entry PRTD, usually valid for 5 years.
3. If she renounced her PR, you would have to sponsor her, and that would cost you over $2K in fees, document translations and medical exams.

Hello,
My parents became PR on April 1st 2014. They then left the country after taking the PR Card. They have visited twice since then once in 2015 and again 2016 each time for a period of 2 months. This means they have only stayed in the country for 4 months. If they visit Canada after August 2017 can they be stopped at the Airport and denied entry into Canada for not fulfilling residency requirements ?
Please advise.

Thanks
IQ

1. Yes they can. if they won't have met their Residency requirement of residing in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period or would be unable to before April/2019.
2. They wouldn't be denied entry, but they would be reported and would have 30 days to appeal, or the removal order issued at the time of the report becomes effective.

Hi.

I want to sponsor my sister , her child and her husband to canada. My whole family came to canada on july 21st 2016. My father , i and my brother works at a Canadian conpany since we came to canada and we did not take any help from the government.

We will take their solely responsibility when they come to canada. They are in kind of difficulty their because of no work and what the government paying to them is difficult to live on.

Please tell me what is the procedure to sponsor them.

Waiting for your reply.

Thank you

Regards

1. Short answer is you can't sponsor them. They will have to qualify on their own through one of the Immigration programs. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp

Hi

1. You got lucky in that you weren't reported on your original entry in 2014. If you now have 730 days of residence since 2014, just apply for a new PR card.

1. if you have your IMM 1000 (which you will need for your PR Card) the stamp on it, will the port of entry.
2. If you don't have your IMM 1000, you will need to apply for a Verification of Status: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=564&top=12

My common law has an 11-year-old daughter who entered Canada as a visitor and she is approved to go to school. my common law became PR being sponsored by another partner three years ago. Since she cannot sponsor her daughter in the first 5 years, I am just wondering if I could under the family sponsor class. we live together for longer than one year, we have a child together, I have the income required for sponsoring a dependent child. considering that we have the biological father consent, is it possible to apply for her immigration?

1. You are reading the sponsorship rules incorrectly. It is only a spouse that was sponsored, is ineligible to sponsor a spouse for 5 years. If the child was examined during her parent's application, then there is nothing stopping an out of Canada sponsorship. It can be done while the child resides in Canada. Note there is no "in-Canada sponsorships" except for spouses.

1. No, unless it was refused for criminality or misrepresentation, though it has to be mentioned on any further Immigration applications.

Hi I am Canadian Citizen and my wife is permanent residence, her PR is about to Expire next June, We are concern because we want to get back to Canada but we do not when this will be.

I was working in Latin America for a Canadian Company for 5 years, and she was accompanying me, I basically quit my Job 2 years ago to pursue my own business, but now we want to get back to Canada.

So my question is, have those year where I worked for this Canadian company been able to help my wife to renew her permanent residence?

Also do they count to her application for citizenship?

if we get back to Canada in 2 months before June, can she still enter in Canada although she has not lived there for more than 2 years?

1. Your working for a Canadian company abroad doesn't effect her PR status. As she is accompanying a Canadian citizen abroad, she has maintained her PR status.
2. If she wishes to return to Canada, and her PR card has expired, she would have to apply for a PR Travel Document. It can be multiple entry, but you have to ask for that. If you return before June, just ensure that you have proof that she is accompanying you abroad.
3. No, only physical resident time in Canada counts for the present 4/6 years for a citizenship application.

1. It depends. From the IRCC site:http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/apply-photos.asp

The following applies for head coverings in photos.

"
  • Hats and head coverings must not be worn, unless they are worn daily for religious beliefs or medical reasons. However, your full face must be clearly visible and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face.
