Sir I wana ask about my situation, i landed in august 2014 and get my pr in september and i left canada , my pr comes to end in 2019 september, and im planing to enter canada in february 2018 for good, i lived in montreal for almost one month only in 2014 , can i enter or the officer will refuse my entry to canada due to 730 days rule, please help and advise . Best regards Hass
1. It appears that you will not have 2 years residency in Canada when you return to Canada in February. So there is a possibility that you will be reported on entry for not meeting your Residency Obligations. If you are reported, then you will be admitted to Canada, but a removal order will be issued. You then have 30 days to appeal the decision. If you lose at the appeal, you must leave Canada. |

Dear Board,
Thanks for helping me out here - my wife has just received her CoPR, and I am a Canadian Citizen. We've found some information on the interview questions they ask when you arrive and i have a few questions:
1) Proof of Funds - how much funding is required? Some websites say you need to bring loads of documents over (like average balance from 6 months of bank statements) and some don't - can someone clarify?
2) Length - we are only spending 5 days there to see family and then return until we come back to Canada in 2018 (we didn't plan on getting the PR so quickly). Is this going to be okay?
Thank you!
1. Sounds as if you were sponsoring her, so no proof of funds required. 2. Yes, it is fine, but you will need a Canadian address for her PR card to be sent to . |

My next question then is:
how do you screw up the interview?
What are any common mistakes, if any?

1. You have an undeclared child, you have a criminal record, no intention of living with sponsor, are about the only way to "screw up" the landing interview. |

Mail PR card Overseas Once Received in Canada

Hello,
A friend of a friend is immigrating to canada,
however after entering the country and going through the immigration process, before she gets the PR card she has to go back to Singapore, where she is originally from.
She is asking me if it is ok for her to give my resident address as the address for her to receive the PR card so I can mail it back to her once I get it. I am not sure if I should be ok with it or if I should say no. So my question is, is there a risk in doing this?
What should I do?
Thank you so much,
1. No risk, and is not illegal to mail PR cards outside Canada. |

Hello, I have three queries: 1. What is the processing time of PRTD on H&C ground at New Delhi, India? 2. My PR card expired in Nov 2011 and stayed only 1 month in 5 years’ time. Not able to return because of hardship (fund crunch). Mentioned in Application that I have enough fund now to settle in Canada and for children education I want to go back. What is the probability of getting PRTD? 3. Issue a PRTD means 100% assurance that I will get new PR Card for 5 years validity once I apply? Thanks
1. Somewhere close to nil of getting a PRTD because you had insufficient funds. |

1) what address should I provide IRCC when I land ? Can I leave it blank? 2) Would IRCC be able to mail the PR card to a P.O.Box (in Canada?) 3) Would Ontario Gov Agencies be able to mail the cards (ID, OHIP etc) to a P.O.Box?
1. if you don't have a residential address, CBSA will give you a form to fax to them once you have one (within 6 months or you have to apply for a card) 2. No, PR cards are only mailed to residential addresses. 3. No, they are provincial, PR cards are Federal |

Hello
My PR card is expired and already applied for the renewal. However, it is taking long . As we have to go for marriage in family, can I apply for an urgent request?
Can I apply PRTD while in Canada ? and if yes what is process ?
Thanks for your advice
1. No, they won't process on an urgent basis unless:
" To qualify for urgent permanent resident (PR) card processing, you must be travelling within the next three months due to: - a job opportunity
- your own serious illness
- the death of a family member
- work related to your current job
- the serious illness of a family member"
2. No, you can only apply for PRTD at an overseas office. You can complete the forms, but they must be submitted overseas. |

Uncertainty Over PRTD

I landed on 4th Oct 2017.
This is a soft landing as I have urgent unfishished tasks back at home. I thought that as it takes around 2 months to receive the PR card, based on current processing times, so I shall collect my PR card and then return.
But a few of my friends here have received their PR card much later than the processing date mentioned on the IRCC website. In short I concluded that the application processing time of 61 days on the website is not concrete.
So I have decided to fly back as I do not wish to exhaust my funds. But a few friends suggested that it could be a bad idea. They said that sometimes if the IRCC faces some issue with our application then they might call us in person.
As I shall not be in Canada at that time I shall not be able to re enter without a PR card. As a result I would lose out on my opportunity to become a PR. In your below link, it is mentioned that it is not a guarantee that we will get a PRTD, and that has got me worried. https://settlement.org/ontario/immigration-citizenship/landing-and-leaving/leaving-canada/i-need-to-leave-canada-but-do-not-have-my-pr-card-yet-what-should-i-do/
So my question is: Is it a risk to return before receiving a PR card?
1. No, not if you just "landed" you will have no problems getting a PRTD as you will be well within the Residency obligations if you apply within the first 3 years. |

I shall stay for 2 months and then return. I shall return on 5th of December. I hope I receive the PR card by then.
For the PRTD, we have to provide an explanation. If that explanation is not accepted by the visa officer am i at risk of being denied a PRTD? Thank you.
1. As long as you are able to meet the Residency Obligations, then a PRTD is issued. The only reason an explanation would be required is if you can't meet your RO and are applying for a PRTD on Humanitarian and compassionate grounds. |

COPR/Visa Name Error - Will Be Corrected at POE?

Hello Team,
firstly, Many Thanks for setting up this discussion forum. I was recently issued COPR and got Canada visa stamped on my passport. Need help on the following:
1. Since I don't have a last name/surname on my application/passport - My COPR mentions my Family Name as Vishal. This is absolutely fine and here I have no issues.
2. Canada Visa on my Passport - This Visa shows my name as Vishal , (followed by a comma). I would really wish to make sure that this additional comma , is as per CIC standards.
3. Another question is my City of Destination on COPR is Toronto. Can I, therefore, land at any Toronto airport on any day/time or do I need to be concerned about the Toronto Airport - I need to book my first ever flight ticket for completing the final validation step.
4. Can you please confirm whether Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is one of the valid ports of entries for PR applicants and if their day/work timings can be provided so as to book ticket accordingly.
Further, I did visit the CBSA site and according to it, Immigration services are only provided at 7 airports across Ontario.
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/services/imm-eng.html
Sincerely appreciate all your help and guidance.
1. The comma means nothing, so you don't have to worry. 2. Toronto International is open at all times when international flights arrive. |

1. After the test you will be interviewed by a Citizenship officer, who will review your passport(s) and stamps. If s/he has any doubts about your residency, you will receive a Residency Questionnaire. |

1 . The COPR says destination Vancouver but I am planning to go to Toronto first to friends and families and later decide on work basis. My question is do I have to land in Vancouver or can I enter Canada from other port?
And Do I need to go to Vancouver to receive my PR card?
1. You can "land" anywhere in Canada you wish (Quebec would want to see onward transportation) 2. No, you don't have to go to Vancouver for your PR card (unless your applied under BC's PNP program) an address in Ontario is fine. |

Hi,
I re-entered Canada after 20 years. My family landed in Canada more than 25 years ago and I was taken outside Canada as a teen with my parents.
When re-entering Canada, I was told at the land border that I should remain in Canada for at least two years in order to meet my permanent resident residency requirements.
In this case, when can I apply for my PR card?
Now that I have recently re-entered Canada? Or after I complete the two years?
1. You shouldn't apply for a PR card until you are in compliance with your Residency obligations. This means you have to remain in Canada for 730 straight days before applying for your PR card. |

Hello Guys,
I have a very unfortunate incident. My wife got Bipolar Disorder and she tried to kill our son and I stopped it. Now she is in the Psychiatric treatment
I had a meeting with her Doctor and Social worker yesterday at her Hospital. When she got sentenced for more than 6 months (Most likely it could happened as she was charged with very serious offences of Attempt to Murder and Aggressive Assault) she would be deported to our home country.
My question is that, would it effect my PR Status (I am the Primary applicant and my wife and our son are my dependents) or myself and my son's Citizenship Application?. Myself and my son applied for the Citizenship on November first week
Please note that there isn't any charges against me and before applying for the Citizenship I asked whether we there is any legal issues which prevent us from applying Citizenship for myself and my son with the Detective and Social worker and I proceed since they gave me green signal.
Please share your thoughts
Million Thanks
1. No, it has no effect on you or your son's citizenship application. |
