Car Collision Damage Options for under $1000.00

Hi all,

On June 18, 2014 while my car was properly parked on roadside in a municipal spot in Toronto and all the occupants were on the sidewalk, a Budget rental truck which was backing up hit it and damaged the front end of the stationary vehicle. The estimate for the repair is below $ 1000.00 and efforts for mutual settlement with the erring driver did not succeed. Do I have other options if I do not want to add a(no fault)claim in my insurance claims history.

Thanks for your time.

Hi there,

Please try to get a quote from a good broker at the time of your renewal. Adding house insurance, multiple vehicles, using winter tires coupled with an online quote will help by way of discounts. If one is a professional, one can try for a group rate through professional associations. They offer cheaper quotes. Much depends on the driving record and claims history as well. Good luck!

Am I eligible for OHIP?

Hi there,

Please type "Ministry of Health and Long Term Care cat 75305633" in google to open a OHIP required list of documents brochure. It depicts three lists of documents. If you have one document from each list, you are eligible for a OHIP card. Please take the originals to Service Ontario office to apply for the same. Hope the list will reply your question and help to make your case easy.

Thanks,

Are They Eligible for OHIP Coverage?

Hi there,

Congratulations on getting admission in a PhD program of the UFT.

After you move, you will be reestablishing to be a resident of Ontario. In general, there is a three months waiting period from the date you move to Ontario to start getting benefits under OHIP. You have to gather one document each from the Ontario Health coverage document list (form 9998E-82) to be eligible for this card. During the waiting period, you will be covered through the university student health coverage plan (which is linked to the tuition fees) or you may have to buy a private insurance.

Thanks and hope this helps.

The period spent in the US by a Canadian PR will not be counted as time spent in Canada except when one is working there for Canadian Govt. for Citizenship

Hi,

1.The basic IRCC residency requirement to maintain your status as a Canada Permanent Resident: To maintain your status as a permanent resident, you must live in Canada for at least 2 years - 730 days - within a 5 year period. During this time you must be physically in Canada. The two years do not need to be continuous.

2. Some short and Long absences from Canada do not affect OHIP coverage. I would suggest that you may go through the Ministry of health and Long Term care Fact sheet document Reference # 014129 and examine your own situation for find an answer.

Hope this helps.
