Hi I want to start preparation for NDEB fundamental exam. I am wondering if anybody has books, past papers, material to read or at least guideline for preparation. It would be great if we can make study group online or in person !! I live in Guelph. Thanks and Regards
Hey there! Getting ready for the NDEB Fundamental exam? Here to help: - Official Resources: The NDEB has a section on "https://ndeb-bned.ca/quiz/" including protocols and some sample study resources.
- Prep Courses: There are prep courses available online and in-person (check Canadian dental associations).
- Study Group: While I can't facilitate a group, there might be existing online forums or communities for dental students in Canada. Search for Canadian dental student groups on social media!
Good luck with your NDEB prep! |

Yes, you may be eligible to apply for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits for the weeks where you are off work due to reduced hours. You'll need to submit an application through Service Canada and provide information about your employment history. Once approved, you'll receive benefits for the weeks you're off work. It's worth considering your options with HR or seeking professional advice. |

Hello, I had a query regarding sponsoring my partner. We have been in a relationship since a long time and plan to get married. My PR application is in progress and both of us are on a work permit right now. His work permit expires in August 2024. I wanted to ask would it be better to get married now and add him in my application or wait until I get my PR and sponsor him later. Our only concern is to be able to extend work permit so as to not lose employment. Is there an option to apply for BOWP if I add him now?
Thank you very much!
It's great to hear about your plans! In your situation, if you're confident that your PR application will be successful and you plan to get married soon, it might be worth waiting until you receive your PR status. Once you become a permanent resident, you'll be eligible to sponsor your partner, and the process typically has shorter processing times compared to spousal sponsorship from within Canada. Additionally, with your partner's work permit expiring in August 2024, you could explore options for extending it, such as applying for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) if eligible. However, it's essential to consider your specific circumstances and consult with an immigration advisor to determine the best course of action for your situation. |

Hello, I’m new here.
I was wondering if anyone can let me know how to go about obtaining proof of citizenship for my child whose father naturalised as a Canadian short before he was born? He is refusing to give consent for a search of his records and wouldn’t provide his Canadian identification for this purpose. Any pointers or leads will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
If the child's father naturalized as a Canadian citizen shortly before the child was born, it's possible that the child may automatically acquire Canadian citizenship by descent. However, obtaining proof of citizenship for the child may require accessing the father's Canadian citizenship records. In cases where the father is unwilling to provide consent or identification for this purpose, you may need to explore alternative options. Consider reaching out to Canadian immigration authorities or legal professionals specializing in citizenship matters for guidance on how to proceed. They may be able to provide advice on alternative methods for obtaining proof of citizenship for your child, such as providing other forms of evidence or pursuing legal avenues if necessary. Additionally, consider seeking support from organizations or advocacy groups that assist individuals with citizenship-related issues. They may be able to provide resources, information, and support to help you navigate the process effectively. |

To obtain proof of Canadian citizenship for a child born outside Canada to a naturalized Canadian father, check eligibility, gather necessary documents, apply for a Search of Citizenship Records, submit the application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), obtain a Verification of Status (VOS) document, and obtain a citizenship certificate. Consult a professional immigration lawyer or expert for assistance and visit the IRCC website for more information on the application process and required documents. |

can someone else everything please?
As the sponsor, you have been provided with your UCI and reference number. Moving on with the sponsorship process, including any demands for biometrics and medical records, is what comes next. Your spouse, who is the primary applicant and is not in Canada, will receive these requests. The UCI and reference number are usually sent to sponsors from the beginning for tracking reasons. If you want more assistance, you may want to get in touch with immigration officials or a migration agency. |

Good day all
In 2020 I submitted an Interest To Sponsor application for my mother via the Parents and Grandparents Program for which I received no confirmation of acceptance, as an alternative, as the IRCC website recommended, she then applied and was approved for a Visitor's Super Visa which allowed us to reunite as a family after a very long time, gratefully.
Recently (May 2024) I received approval to apply for Permanent Residence for my mother via my 2020 Interest To Sponsor, Parents and Grandparents Program from the IRCC and I have some questions which I truly hope you can assist with please:
My mother, who is 79 years old, happens to be currently visiting us in Canada under her Super Visa which will expire in April 2025:
1) Can I apply for her Permanent Residence through The IRCC invitation to apply via the Parents and Grandparents Program while she is in Canada on a Super Visa?
2) If not, how should I go about applying please?
I thank you in advance and look forward to your response, Kind regards
Thank you for your questions regarding the application for your mother's Permanent Residence through the Parents and Grandparents Program. Here are the answers to your questions:Can I apply for her Permanent Residence through The IRCC invitation to apply via the Parents and Grandparents Program while she is in Canada on a Super Visa? No, you cannot apply for your mother's Permanent Residence while she is in Canada on a Super Visa. The IRCC requires that the person you are sponsoring be outside of Canada when you submit the application. This is because the Super Visa is a temporary visa, and the IRCC needs to ensure that the person you are sponsoring is not already in Canada before processing the application. If not, how should I go about applying please? You should wait until your mother's Super Visa expires in April 2025. Once she is outside of Canada, you can submit the application for her Permanent Residence through the IRCC invitation to apply via the Parents and Grandparents Program. Make sure to follow the necessary steps and provide all required documents, including proof of income and family relationships.I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions. |

Period of stay in Canada while studying

I got an ITA in the recent draw,
In my profile I have received 30 points for my Canadian Masters degree. My degree was originally for 1 year, but I completed it a semester early because I had to come back to Pakistan. In the education section the start and end date of my degree I've mentioned are Sept 17 and June 18 (June because my degree was awarded in June)
I was concerned that when I submit my stay in 'personal activities' and 'travel history' section my duration in canada is coming less than 8 months (7 months and few days), since back when I started my degree my student visa was delayed and I joined late (roughly 3 weeks late).
Can group members please guide me if they think this can be an issue when submitting profile for P.R?
Congratulations on getting an ITA in the recent draw! That's fantastic news. Regarding your concern about the length of your stay in Canada, it's understandable to feel some apprehension. Here's what I can share:
- Focus on completing the application accurately: The most important thing is to be truthful and consistent in your application. Since you mentioned the accurate start and end dates of your degree (Sept 17 - June 18), reflecting the same timeframe in your personal activities and travel history sections is perfectly fine.
- Explanation for Short Stay (Optional): If you'd feel more comfortable, you can consider including a brief explanation in your Letter of Explanation (LOE) mentioning the delayed student visa that caused you to join a bit later. The LOE is your chance to clarify any aspects of your application, so a short explanation there wouldn't hurt.
- Overall Profile Strength Matters: The processing officer will be looking at your entire profile, not just the length of your stay in Canada for your Master's program. Your 30 points for the Canadian Masters degree are definitely a positive factor.
Here are some resources that might be helpful:
- Canadian Immigration and Refugee Citizenship Canada (IRCC) - Guide to Completing the Application Form: https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=007 This guide provides detailed instructions on filling out the application form, including the LOE section.
- Canadavisa.com - Express Entry - Letter of Explanation This website offers tips and examples for writing an effective Letter of Explanation.
Ultimately, a 7-month stay shouldn't be a major concern, especially if you have a strong overall profile. Focus on completing the application accurately and consider including a brief explanation in your LOE if you feel it would be helpful. Congratulations again on the ITA! I hope this information helps with your application process. |

As a permanent resident, you can relocate within Canada without restrictions. If your sponsor moves, you must notify Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) of the change of address using the "Notice of Relocation Form" from the Department of Justice. This form must be completed at least 60 days before the move. Despite the move, you remain the principal applicant on your permanent residence application and must submit the Notice of Relocation Form to update your file. |

Can I provide proof of income through a combination of sources, such as bank statements, tax returns, and employment letters, to strengthen my application?
Using multiple sources of income verification can strengthen your application for rental agreements, loans, or other financial purposes. Key documents include paystubs, bank statements, tax returns, employment contracts, proof of income letters, and earnings statements from platforms like UpWork. These documents provide a comprehensive picture of your financial situation, demonstrating consistent cash flow, significant savings, and income patterns. Providing documentation for each income source is crucial for a comprehensive financial picture. |

Hi, Is there any school in Ontario to offer 24/7 dorm to international school students? Thanks.
Yes, you can provide proof of income through a combination of documents to strengthen your application. Using multiple sources of income verification can give a more comprehensive picture of your financial situation. Some key points on using a combination of proof of income documents:- If you have multiple sources of income, it's essential to provide documentation for each, such as paystubs from different employers, rental income statements, or proof of government benefits.
- Bank statements can serve as supporting evidence, particularly for self-employment income, by demonstrating consistent cash flow and significant savings.
- Tax returns are considered a credible means of verifying income as they encompass both earned and unearned income sources, but only reflect the previous tax year.
- Employment contracts, proof of income letters from employers, and W-2/1099 tax forms can provide additional context on your income sources and employment status.
- For self-employed individuals, profit and loss statements or earnings statements from platforms like UpWork can demonstrate income patterns, even if not legally binding.
By submitting a variety of income verification documents, you can paint a more complete picture of your financial situation and strengthen your application for a rental agreement, loan, or other purpose requiring proof of income. The key is to provide documentation for each of your income sources.

Moving to Quebec after landing in Ontario with FSW

Hi,
I have completed my landing (FSW, not PNP) and obtained my SIN in Ontario more than a year ago. After staying in Canada for more than two months, I left. Since then, I am living outside of Canada and requesting my personal network for job opportunities/referrals anywhere in Canada (other than Quebec). Now a Quebec based employer is offering me a job. If I accept this job, relocate to Quebec, and complete my settlement (first driver's license and health card), would it potentially cause a problem during/after my citizenship application three years down the line?
When subsequently seeking for Canadian citizenship, accepting a job offer in Quebec after becoming a permanent resident in Ontario through Express Entry shouldn't present any major challenges. According to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, you have the freedom to live and work anywhere in Canada, including Quebec, once you've arrived. Filing taxes in Quebec is common if, after landing, you make sincere efforts to establish in Ontario. Getting a verified employment offer can also make the Quebec immigration process go more smoothly. |

You may still go to the United States by land or water as a recent Canadian citizen who attended the citizenship ceremony but does not yet have your Canadian passport or citizenship certificate, but you will need to bring some papers with you: When entering the country by land or water (as opposed to air), you must show one of the following documents: a current passport for Canada
A card from the Trusted Traveler Program (like NEXUS) An enhanced identity card (EIC) or enhanced driver's license (EDL) from a province or territory where the EDL/EIC program is authorized by the United States A Safe Certificate of Indian Status You may enter the United States by land or water with an original or copy of your birth certificate or your Canadian citizenship certificate if you do not yet have either of those papers. However, all Canadian nationals traveling by air are required to have a valid Canadian passport in order to enter the United States. The important thing to remember is that, even without your passport or citizenship certificate yet, you may still enter the United States on land or by water as a recent Canadian citizen by utilizing other documentation. Just make sure you cross the border with the right paperwork in hand. The officers of U.S. Customs and Border Protection will have the ability to confirm your citizenship. |

The statement implies that the person is still awaiting a medical letter even after getting an acknowledgment letter on December 18. They advise getting in touch with the department or agency that issued the letter and requesting the missing file. Send the matter to a supervisor if the company doesn't respond. It's critical to keep your communication professional and to keep asking for the missing paperwork. The person should be able to get the required medical letter with perseverance. |
