1. Assuming your parents weren't diplomats, you are a Canadian citizen. You apply for a passport here: http://tinyurl.com/ycqr6t6d

Hi,

I have a similar situation but Im under CEC category from with in Canada. I have got passport requests(whole family 3 members) and i have just sent them. But im leaving Canada on 30March 2018 to India as per my Indian employer( I want to come back later to Canada, dont want to resign the Indian Job immediately)

If we get passports back within 2-3 weeks and do the landing here at Canada border and go to to India on 30 March without PR card, (mostly im hoping it would)
Query 1:
Can i request CIC to change my mailing address to other address in canada( my Friend's) and So that my friend can send them to India and we can reenter whenever we want to . Is it possible , Can i request to CIC to change mailing address referring to UCI numbers associated to PR application?

Query 2:
Can I request CIC to send to my Indian address explaining that im going back to India due to family matters before taking PR card. Will they accept my request ?

(Reason is , it would be expensive travel just land again with the family back to get the PR card)
Thanks

1. Yes, when you "land" you can change the mailing address to another one in Canada for your PR card.
2. No, IRCC will not send PR card outside Canada.
3. If you don't have your PR card before you return to Canada, you can get a PR Travel Document in India

Mistake In PR card and Need to Travel

Hello everyone,

My situation is this: I had my PR approved while being on a work permit (which ends June 30th). I need to fly outside Canada but the people at the IRCC made the mistake of using the sequence number of my passport instead of the ID number. It is actually the second time they make the same mistake. I have to send them the PR card and a bunch of documents so they will process it *urgently* but i don't know how long that will take them. I still have a tourist visa and a work visa stamped in my passport, so the questions are:

- Are my work permit (visa) and tourist visa still valid? (were not voided at the airport when I ¨landed¨ as it happened with the immigration one)
- If so, could i come back to Canada using either of those documents while i wait for them to correct the information on my PR card?

I cannot apply for a travel document as the trip is going to be short and i won't be able to apply for it where i'm going.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

1. If you have "landed" then your work permit is no longer valid, and CIC/CBSA has or is in the process of cancelling your TRV. You will either have to get a PRTD to return or fly into the US to an airport close to the border and enter Canada by non commercial transport with your passport and COPR.

Dear Moderator,

My wife and 3 kids landed in Canada back on February 12th, 2013 and stayed till November 20th, 2013(Staying time=282 days). My wife had to go back due to some unavoidable family situation and she had to go back to provide needed care to her father and my parents as they have gone through some surgeries and no one was there to help them. She stayed there from November 21st, 2013 to December 16th, 2016. As they got better and had the support so my wife returned to Canada and landed back with 3 kids on December 16th, 2016.
My wife PR card is expiring on March 11th, 2018. Her staying period since December 16th, 2016 till March 11th, 2018 will be
December 16th, 2016 to March 11th, 2018= 451 days
so her total time period
February 12th, 2013 to March 11th, 2018=282+451=733 days
Her actual 5 years period will be February 12th, 2013 to February 12th, 2018 and her staying period for the mentioned 5 years will be 282+424=706 days and it is 24 days less then 730 days.
She is here now permanently and living with me and kids. I already applied for citizenship for myself and for my kids and the application of me and my kids are accepted by CIC Canada.
I would like to ask that when I should apply for the renewal of her PR card after 730 days? or now? If CIC will be looking at a period of 5 years after her landing then she is 24 days short of 730 days residency obligation. will they consider and approve her application for the renewal?

Rehan

1. Wait until she has 730 days of residence in the previous 5 years, plus a buffer of about 30 days, before she applies to renew her PR card.

Thank you

1. Don't give a Quebec address for your PR card is you were not accepted by Quebec and issued a CAQ.

Hi,

Even I have received my COPR and have some doubts related to that

I come under the Federal skilled worker program.

My COPR says the destination city as Toronto. I live in Utah and its near to Vancouver and I already booked a flight to Vancouver.
But since COPR says the destination as Toronto I am in a confusion.

Is it OK to do all the formalities in Vancouver for getting PR card.
Or do I have to cancel my flight?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

1. Landing in Vancouver is fine as long as you aren't an Ontario PNP applicant. You will need a Canadian address for the PR card.

Hi,

I want to ask about my permanent resident card.

I already received my PR card last January 2018 and I wish to travel outside canada for about 9 months in a row. Do I still need to notify the immigration about it? Do I need to file a permit in order to stay for more than 6 months outside Canada?

Because before the rule is if you're a permanent resident in Canada you only have 6 months most to stay outside Canada.

So, I'm also asking if this law is still applicable today?

1. No, you don't need to inform IRCC (They don't care) and there is no permit.
2. To meet your PR residency obligations, you must reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period. The 2 years doesn't have to be consecutive .
3. See 2 above, the 6 month rule ended in 2002. Even then it wasn't hard and fast, you had to spend more than 6 months outside Canada with the INTENTION to abandon Canada.

Renewing PR Card Second Time

I will be highly obliged for answering the questions dealing with the following situation:

My friend became Permanent Resident on November 28, 2010.
He spent 1008 days in the period: November 28, 2010 to October 24, 2015 and left Canada on October 24, 2015 after getting his PR card renewed with the expiry date December 26, 2020.
He is currently living in India and plans to go back to Canada on January 1, 2020.

His questions are:
1. Will he be permitted to enter Canada on January 1, 2020 ?
2. Will he be permitted to renew again (i.e. for the second time) his PR Card?
3. If he is permitted to renew his PR Card, when can he apply for the renewal?
Thanks.

1. He will be permitted to enter, but there is a very good chance that he will be reported for not meeting his Residency obligations of 2/5 years from Oct/15 to Jan/20, actually he has to return by Oct/18 and remain for 2 years to maintain his PR status.
2. No, as he won't have met his RO, see #1.
3. See, #1 & #2.

Hi,
My Husband me and our 2 year old got CoPR through express entry( without provincial nomination) and our destination is Ontario. I have landed and is staying at Toronto, Ontario. My Husband and son are travelling on April.

But they are landing in Montreal, Quebec and then taking a connection flight to Toronto after 3 hours.

1. Will they be doing their landing formalities at Montreal or Toronto?

2. Will that be a problem because they do not have CSQ(Quebec certificate of selection - which is mandatory for settling in quebec) ? After all they are not intending to stay in Quebec and their final destination is Toronto.

3. What documents can be provided as proof that they are not going to stay in Quebec?

Thanks
Serene

1. "landing" will be done at Montreal.
2. No, as you have onward transportation outside Quebec.
3. Onward airline ticket.

Hi Everyone!

I have recently landed in Toronto last week on my Permanent Residence visa.

At the POE there was an issue with my COPR since my Marital status hasn't been updated from single to married.

I had applied for my PR through an agency in India and according to them they have sent the mail to cic informing the marital status long back but they did not send the details(Forms, medical and pcc) of my husband to CIC and told me that it's not required.

I Have all the mails with me in which i have given my consultancy the documents of my marriage but unfortunately they dint forward it to cic and it was my fault I blindly believed them.
Now when i landed here, i was stopped at the POE and my passport and Copr was taken by them.

They told me to come back after 2 weeks for further examination.

I am very scared as i dont know what is going to happen on that day.

Will they revoke my PR?

Does anyone have any information on this or went through a similar situation?

Thank you.

1. The minimum is that CBSA will not process your "landing" and you will have to return to India, and add your spouse to your application.
2. If you had "Landed" as single, you would not be able to sponsor your spouse in the future, and it would have been possible that you be reported for representation.
3. As an aside blaming your consultant will not work, it was your duty to amend the application, return your COPR, and wait until your spouse was examined and new COPRs were issued. If you read the instructions with your COPR you were warned that all changes in family composition must be reported to CIC.

1. Your COPR will be valid from 1 year from the date of your medical or to the expiry of the passport, whichever comes first.
