PR card renewal: Days absent from Canada

Sounds like a misunderstanding! - Minimum stay is 730 days in 5 years (you're good).
- 1095 days is the MAX you can be outside Canada in those 5 years (you might be over).
Double-check travel dates and consider using the IRCC calculator to confirm days outside Canada within the exact 5-year window for your application. Good luck! |

LONG FORM CITIZENSHIP REPLACEMENT

Hello, I have submitted my application to request a copy of the LONG FORM CITIZENSHIP copy that I need to submit to the Italian Consulate. The application was returned to me stating that I had not enclosed the original Canadian citizenship/naturalization certificates and any pink slip transmission copy that was previously issued.
I sent back a letter advising them that I do not have those documents in my possession, hence the reason I am asking for the copy. They sent the application back again as incomplete.
Am I doing something wrong? I cannot get through to the IRCC customer service agents. Is there another agency that can help me?
I look forward to your response and assistance.
Thank you
Steffannee
Consider seeking assistance from a legal aid organization or immigration lawyer for guidance in obtaining the necessary documents for your application to the Italian Consulate. |

change in marital status on PR application

Hello
I received my COPR and my marital status is stated single but I informed IRCC of my change in marital status and added my spouse to my application. My COPR has the wrong information and when I submitted a form it went from approved to processing application, what can I do? Did my confirmation change? Will my wife be recognized on my application? I did inform IRCC months ago...
It's understandable to be concerned about discrepancies in your COPR, especially regarding your marital status and the addition of your spouse to your application. Here's what you can do to address this issue: Contact IRCC: Reach out to IRCC as soon as possible to explain the situation. Provide any documentation or evidence you have regarding your change in marital status and the addition of your spouse to your application. You can contact them through their online portal, by phone, or by email. Follow up: After contacting IRCC, follow up regularly to ensure that your case is being processed and that any necessary updates are made to your records. You can check the status of your application online or contact IRCC directly for updates. Seek clarification: If your application status changed from "approved" to "processing" after submitting the form, it's important to seek clarification from IRCC about the reason for this change. They can provide insight into any additional steps or requirements that may be needed to address the discrepancy. Consider seeking legal advice: If you're unsure about how to proceed or if you're experiencing difficulties resolving the issue, consider seeking legal advice from an immigration lawyer or consultant. They can provide guidance based on your specific circumstances and help navigate the process. Overall, it's important to be proactive in addressing this issue with IRCC to ensure that your marital status is accurately reflected in your immigration records and that your spouse is recognized on your application. |

Can I provide proof of income through a combination of sources, such as bank statements, tax returns, and employment letters, to strengthen my application?
Providing proof of income through a combination of sources can strengthen your application. Bank statements provide a detailed overview of your financial transactions, verifying income sources like salary payments and dividends. Tax returns provide comprehensive documentation of income, deductions, credits, and liabilities for a specific period, demonstrating consistent income over time. Employment letters confirm your current employment status, providing credibility to income claims. By combining these sources, you can present a compelling case to support your application, addressing potential discrepancies and questions. |

Tax implications for non resident parents?

Hi, I'm a non-resident, Canadian citizen and my son (14 y.o.) is enrolled in HS that is currently out of Canada (Singapore). If I'm able to enroll him in a Canadian HS, I understand he would be eligible to benefits as a citizen, and not subject to international fees.
However as neither parent will be joining him, are there any tax implications to us as non-residents, and does it make any difference whether he is enrolled in public school or private (boarding) school?
Enrolling your son in a Canadian high school outside of Canada may have minimal tax implications. These include your residency status, eligibility for child tax benefits, tuition fees, and tax planning. Canadian residents may not be subject to Canadian income tax on their worldwide income, but may still have tax obligations related to Canadian-source income or assets. Public schools generally have lower tuition fees for Canadian residents, while private schools may offer scholarships or financial aid. Consult a tax professional for personalized advice. |

COPR/Visa Name Error - Will Be Corrected at POE?

Hello all
Although I sent my passport, they made an error in my name (switched first and last name) on the visa and CoPR.
Because of time constraint I already made my travel arrangements to land in mid April and do not have time to get it corrected. I have couple of questions which are as follows:
1. How critical is it to get the error corrected? CoPR and visa are just temporary documents.
2. When I land in mid April, can I send the correction forms along with the forms that the IO prepares so that they can get my correct name on the PR card?
Any reply is appreciated. Thank you
A mismatch between your passport and CoPR/visa is crucial for avoiding delays or denial of entry at the Port of Entry (POE) and obtaining a Permanent Resident (PR) card. Correction forms cannot be sent at landing, so you must address the error through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. Contact the IRCC Client Support Centre immediately or consider expedited processing if allowed. Keep your passport, CoPR, and visa application details available, explain your situation clearly, and document your communication. Prioritizing this can help avoid complications at the POE or delays in receiving your PR card. |
